I wanted to add images of this mattress that I added to my collection recently. I remembered seeing this mattress as a child all over local stores but hadn't seen it since. I was in a local thrift store and picked it up for a steal. my holy grail search for this item is over , now onto the rings..lol
It is that typical bunk-bed mattress that we all remember being cheap and uncomfortable. Only about 3" thick and very thin fabric. I never see images of this mattress on google, so I wanted to share this great piece.

As a dad, I see similar matresses with a generic space theme nowadays, but that is REALLY sweet. Being pretty uneducated in Micronauts, I may have seen that as a kid and didn't even know what it was.
Congrats on the grail find!!!

Wow, I've never seen that before, congrats on your find! I can't imagine that there are too many of those still floating around out there.

That's a great find. I have "part" of one. Mine was the regular size mattress for a twin bed. I found it stored in a old barn. I say "part" of one. Wood bees and termites and eaten quite a bit of it. I took some pics and then cut out the main part of the top. I plan to have a small quilt made out of it some day.

yeah I can see how they could get destroyed very easy. it basicly has a cardboard backing with cheap wood stapled to it.
in the 70's I was collecting Star wars and still do , and I guess I had the star wars sheets instead of the micronauts mattress. I didn't get into micronauts until my early 30's. There has to be a lost christmas catalog out there with it pictured in that cheesy room setting.
It still amazes me that thrift stores still have items pop up after all these years. Somehow I feel there's not too many micronaut collectors in decatur, alabama..lol

That's amazing! I know one individual who has a sleeping bag of the same material, and know another who had raw fabric with the same design.
Thanks for the info and pictures!
I scored one of those years back on eBay and had the owner "skin" it for me and send the fabric. I've been meaning to do something with it for the past six years. One of these days...

yeah shipping the entire mattress would be a pain for sure. I'm going to mount is as a wall piece behind my collection , ( once I get everything out storage)
