Has anyone ever signed a prenup for their collections?

No, I didn't make Nate sign one. But we were joking about it, since we both collect Silver Age comics. I told him I was going to make him sign a preuptual agreement so he couldn't divorce me and take my Megos as part of the settlement. It did get me wondering though. There has been some discussion of members breaking up and/or getting divorced, with collections being argued over between the couple. Has anyone ever had any kind of provision for their Megos, comics, or some other item they hold dear, in case the relationship ends? I would have to imagine that some comic book collectors who have key issues, such as the first appearance of Spiderman or Batman, would have done just that due to the value of these items. Just wondering...

    No prenup for me...

My wife is not a collector but I have a fairly valuable collection of various items (including Silver Age Spider-Man, Megos, Old Washington Redskin Memorabilia, Anri items, various military type things).

We've been married for 15 years and I will never say never...but if it ever came down to it I don't think she would fight me for 50% of the collection and if she wanted 50% of the value, I'd just buy it out and move on.

I have witnessed some pretty nasty divorces from friends and relatives and I really would not want to get into that situation. The material items are not that important to me and if I had to sell it or buy out the 50% ownership, that would be the preferred method. To me, our kids are our most important asset so I would do anything for their benefit.
