    Super Powers!

I thought folks here might enjoy these shots. This is my meager collection. I'll say it again, I'm NO sort of photographer, and our camera is an older model.

Oh, and to the 'moderators' and/or 'owners' of this site - (thats the correct term, 'mods' = moderators = site 'overseers'/bosses, right?) if I am posting too many shots, as in using up too much space or my limit, please let me know!

Well, enjoy - (I can hear the Super Powers theme in my head. )

(To the left there, on the blue wall panel, you will notice that apparently Superman, Bat Man, and Aquaman have made the 'honor roll'! )

    Sorry, I trimmed Robin's head

When I first found this great playset (It's not from my childhood) I got VERY excited. I was approaching it from a distance and the colors and fonts made me instantly think that it was Mego, as I got closer I saw that it wasnt postboard/vinyl, ah well. :(

    Take care -

The Hall of Justice is the greatest playset EVER. I still have my original, and love it.

Awesome pics! I love Super Powers. I just took mine out of storage a few days ago and put them back on display. I rotate my displays every so often.

I've been slowly adding to my Super Powers collection for years. I still have a long way to go :

Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.

              Small world indeed, Mr. Krusher!

I have all my SP figures from childhood. Had the whole collection minus Cyborg (and the South America Riddler). I've upgraded a lot of them, and passed mine on to my son.

Overall, SP is still the best DC action figure line ever, as far as design consistency and output. If DCUC had vehicles and playsets, they'd come awfully close!

Earth_2_Chris - Thats awesome! And I tend to agree as to the BEST DC-oriented line, though Mego comes CLOSE!

Generic - NICE man! I have a few that you dont have - maybe mine would be happier with more of their peers!?

I have a Riddler but it was from the Toy Biz "Fake" Super Powers that came out with the Batman movie in 1989. I've integrated some of them into my SP collection though.

I try to keep those Toy Biz as far away from my SP as possible!

Some of those Toybiz figures are obviously molded from the Super Powers, but it's astounding how the execution can be so far off given the similarities. Particularly the action features.

Although I guess we did get a Two Face and an affordable Riddler out of it scaled to fit the SP, but how on earth did Toy Biz ever expect any play value amongst kids for such complete misses as Punch Yourself businessman Luthor over the SP armoured version?

I've got most of the SP commons and lately have been finding the depressed market a good way of getting some of the more expensive and desirable last series ones without paying for them with your first born, eternal soul, and/or life savings.

Does anyone know where I can get good repro parts for SP figures? Specifically the utility hands for Cyborg and the shackles for Mister Miracle? Also repro cards. Feel free to shoot me a PM.

And does anyone have any insight into why they were developing non DC Comics Super Powers characters when the DCU was so rich with potential candidates to come to life as toys for the first time?

Love this plush Superman. Such an antidote to all those gritted teeth Superman figures from the nineties.

I'm with you on this. Despite the facts that the DC Universe Classics line has better head sculpts and certainly enhanced articulation there is "something" to the Super Powers line that gives them the edge. More colorful? (I don't know...)

I think one of the reasons SP still works so well today is the action functions are hidden. No knobs or buttons or wheels in the backs/sides. Even today you get that stuff 20+ years later. I love my loose set.
