Here are the official promo pics of all the prototype Buck Rogers figures that were shown at the New York Comic Con. If for some reason a few of you see a red "X" instead of pictures I'll be updating my website with the pictures tomorrow. Big thanks to Mark Bradley (Ranger 3) for making the very cool backdrops for the pictures.

All I want to do is call the me from 1979 and tell him that the figures he wished he had back then, he will have 31 years later.

Beautiful, and I will be getting each and every one of these.

YEEEEHHHHAAAHHHH!

Those are mind blowing, fantastic, stupendous, colossal, and.....well, just put in whatever word you want.

The level of detail would have had the old guys at Mego drooling with envy and offering to buy you out for fear of the competition.

I can't WAIT to get a hold of Hawk, Buck and maybe one of the Draconian guards.

Once these start selling, my friend, you will become embarrassingly rich.:drool_y::drool_y::drool_y::drool_y::drool_y:

Wonderful figures. Congratulations. They have a lot of detail and quality, and they still looks very megoesque, very 70´s. You´ve achieved the perfect action figure mixing to me. I´m going to buy two of all of them, if I can.
When are you going to reveal the boxes? I´m pretty sure you are keeping a great surprise also.

They look great . Great detail. Why can Mattel make a detailed DC Figures. Thanks Mattel for making a crapy figures with the money I save from not buying your retro Junk I will buy all of these. I like the helmet on Buck. I had all the Buck Rodgers 12" mego figures but sold them when Bucks face turned blue. And the swivel arms are a plus. How about a ball joint neck. Now that would be great.

JediJaida
Oct 23, '10, 6:59 PM
When was the last time that Mattel actually cared about quality?

Oh yeah! Waaaaaay back when I was around three or four years old, in the late 1960's!

After the 70's, quality started going downhill in favore of cheep dolls (not cheap, I mean CHEEP!), crummy outfits, vacuous expressions, limited articulation, and other kinds of crap.

Pre-orders won't be taken until I know the figures are actually on the water and on their way to the US. According to the last update I got from the factory they should be shipping on 11-27-2010. The starfighter will be a made to order item, we won't be keeping them in stock. I'll be posting all the specifics on the starfighter once I have the prototype in hand.

Great news about the ball joint neck. Since were on the subject to making improvement on bodies how about making the waist to go up and down not just side to side. Now that would be the best 8" body

I won't be getting any new bodies in until it's time to start production on the remaining three figures from series 1 of Buck Rogers. Hopefully sales for Buck and Tigerman will be strong so I can get started on the remaining three a month or two after Christmas.

Now this is the future of the 8" format. I was stunned when I saw the pictures; I thought I was looking at the 12" stuff that Amok Time was putting out. These are positively gorgeous.

Personally, I hated this show but given how few space toys are made these days I can see myself getting a Buck and a custom Starfighter just to put in the showroom.

Best of luck with this line and keep pushing the 8" format further -- let's show the 12" guys that there's a more affordable and easier-to display alternative!

To that end, you've proven that you can do anything in the 8" format that you can do in 1/6 without the huge price point. I can't imagine what these would cost as 12" figures!

Incredible.

Will Buck come with/in a Space Shuttle/20th Century outfit? I have a few thoughts on how to put him in my Trek Crew.

The detail is amazing. And you seem to have the arm horizontal to the ground without a bicep swivel joint.

8" rule. They were so fun to play with. Better than GI Joe, better than Star Wars. They were perfect. And now they are back.

Congrats!

It's possible that Buck will be offered in his space shuttle outfit since it's already been prototyped but nothing has been confirmed.

The ZICA body that's being used for these figures has a bicep swivel joint.

Unfortunately nothing major. Work is still being done on the prototype and currently they're trying to tweak the articulation in the knees.

If I'm ever given the opportunity to do a series of Six Million Dollar Man figures I'll definitely take it. I have most of the vintage toys and just recently bought the DVD set so I've got plenty of reference material.
