A couple of days ago, I managed to win a ebay auction for a "Butcher cover" version of the Beatles "Yesterday and Today" album. I couldn't believe it when I won the auction.

What is the greatest/rarest item, you have ever won on ebay?

It is such a great website.:cool_y:

I have had two memorable ones.

Maggy and I had been looking at engagement rings on eBay when she still lived in PA. She had found the style she liked. The seller had sold the same type ring many times mostly it went for $1200-1400. I had just finished a custom interior job and my half of the final payment was $875. I placed a snipe for the ring figuring I wouldn't get it. Well I ended up winning it at $845! The seller, who was great to deal with, told me she was not sure how I was able to win it so cheap and that it was actually below her cost.

She rushed getting it sized and shipped to me so that I was able to bring it to PA as I was already scheduled to fly out there a week after the auction ended. I was able to give Maggy the ring she always wanted and we have now been together for 9 years and married for 6.

The second time was when I decided that Mopar muscle cars became to expensive for me to own anymore so I got back into Kawasaki triples (had one when I was 19) and went to eBay looking for one. I ended up getting an all original 1974 H2B (750) for $2400. This was about 5 years ago now. The seller had only 2 feedback and 1 picture of the bike on his auction. Through emailing him I learned he was the second owner (bought it in 1976), had the original pipes that are near mint, original grab rail and air box (hard to find and expensive), and he sent me more pictures.

I sniped the auction and my max was just over $2600 as that is all the extra cash I had at the time. I remember Maggy and I watching the auction wind down and when we won we were ecstatic! Had to drive to Cincinnati to get it but it was well worth it. I had the side covers repainted, put the stock parts back on, and polished the heck out of it. It turned out very nice and since it even still has the original tires I decided not to restore it but instead leave it as an 8777 mile survivor. That bike should have gone for $1000-1500 more at that time and now is worth about $6-7000.

It is my favorite bike out of my collection. Here is the original auction picture and and a picture of how it turned out.

My Pinto! Had to put some things on it to get it looking this sporty. But not much. 24,000 original miles when I got it a few years ago.

Probably best scores for me on Ebay that come to mind is a really rare Washington Redskins pennant that was hidden. I have seen 3 show up on Ebay in 10 years of buying them. I do own one of the other 3 and figured I'd buy it and re-sell it if it was cheap enough. No one else bid on it but me....got it for $9.99 and it's probably a $250 pennant but has a little staining so I'm thinking $150-$200 easy. The 2nd was a hand carved Anri nativity set that I knew a lot about. Someone listed it with a BIN for $800. I immediately bought because I knew someone who wanted the stable bad and was willing to pay $1,500 for one. I turned around and sold him the stable for $800 which made him happy and I kept about $1,000 worth of hand carved nativity figures for myself.

I know right? I laugh when I think about pintos, but that does look cool to me for some reason. I think it's the plaid seats and the raised white letters. I would def have have some HP in it though.

I'm right there with you. I think the whole retro look is what makes it. Plus now you just don't see many Pintos anymore.

I hit a $25 BIN for $1400 worth of vintage Captain Action stuff.

Also, I paid regular price for a loose Mego RM Robin without mask and was thrown in the mask for free.

I lucked out one morning last Spring as the first BIN'er for the $70 (including shipping) loose Great White Shark. Has some damage, but is still one toothy bad boy.:cool_y:

It's a peppy little guy. Doesn't have much top end, but it's got some pep. The plaid seats are what everyone loves. My son wanted it bad after I got it cleaned up, but it's just too valuable to take a chance. And he had a few mishaps his first year or so of driving, so I made the right decision keeping it out of his hands! And man does it turn heads when I drive it. I have people pulling up beside my and giving thumbs up. And I can't park it in any store lot without having someone there asking about it when I come out.

Got two boxed Lincoln monsters for about $300 because the woman listed it as "Frankensten" (which is oddly how it's listed on the box) , been offered a lot more for it but it's one of those things I don't feel i can part with.

1st (with good ending) 1300 sets of Sony headphones...all new but most open box all from Borders for $700 shipped to my door.

2nd 5000 (with bad ending) mini American flags for $70 free ship...had a deal all set up to give them to local Boy Scouts, they were gonna sell them for $5 each and give me $2 and they were keeping $3...guy claimed when he got them from his warehouse they got rained on and were destroyed.
I got him kicked off eBay after he threatened me.
While I couldn't blame him for not wanting to ship them, when I asked a few questions, he was an excop from FLA, he looked up who I was and threatened me and then my family...

Actually, I don't know if it is considered a score but I purchased a Starbucks snowglobe and was sent a whole box full of collectible Starbucks mugs and cups. I let the seller know the mistake and best way to return it. It was one of those places where people take their items to sell on Ebay. I think the lot of mugs sold for $100+. The Ebay seller told me to keep them (they didn't want to deal with the return) and refunded my money.
