Mystery undersea playset - sound familiar?

I'm new here and was wondering if anyone remembers an underwater-themed playset from the early '80s that had an interesting design. It was composed of a rectangular backdrop with a seafloor scene on it. The bottom was made of plastic formed into rocks and coral, and the top was a boat that may have had a shark cage. It came with divers as well as a shark and an octopus, both of which were white with black eyes. The only place I ever saw this was in a Best catalog. Does this sound familiar?

    welcome to the board

sure it was not from the 70's? I cannot find the post on this forum with the picture for the life of me but it sounds like a mobile action command knockoff toy. It had a similar setup to what you described but came out in the 70's

I still cannot find the picture but the knockoff line was called action jack below is a blub I found and this is exactly what you described:

"The playset I had must have been Action Jack or something similar. THe accessories are the same.
The set included a 14" long boat that was suspended over a cardboard ocean backdrop with a mountain on either side and loads of Aquatic life. It even had a shark cage and domed undersea vehicle as well."

Yeah, I know it well. Somebody comes in here at least once a year and asks about it. I should probably keep better records.

Upload your photo to the forum gallery or to a site like photobucket, copy the url for the pic and past it in the window that pops up when you click the little yellow mountain icon (insert image)

Sounds like the 1979 Marx Undersea playset

In the 76 Marx catalog, they had big plans for 3 3/4" figures that never came to be.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
