Any iPad users here? How do the gallery pop up menu work on iPad? Any trouble?

I can't speak for the iPad, but on the iPhone the menu works well on the safari browser that comes installed.

What doesn't work is the scrolling.

On the accessory check pages, for example, the content will come up on the screen, but safari will not allow scrolling of that inner content. It only allows scrolling of the whole page.

I get the same problem on the forum, when replying. It will not allow you to scroll the comment boxes.

I have trouble with the galleries on the iPad. I get one page of info, but can't scroll to see the rest of the article.

I didn't initially check anything but the forum, but you are correct. I cannot get scrolling to work on the gallery pages on either the iPad or the Galaxy Tab. The forums work perfectly on both, but not the gallery pages

I checked the other pages. The splash screen doesn't require scrolling. The home page scrolls fine, the library page scrolls fine, the custom mego page seems to want to scroll but is cutoff at the bottom and the search page scrolls fine. I'll do some in-west-t'gating and see if other people are talking about other sites having similar problems. Must be something simple in the code if some pages work fine.

The gallery scroll was a funky work around that may becoming obsolete. Major suckage if true.

Good new, it's not anything wrong with the site coding. It's a mobile device quirk. Not sure why it only does it on some pages and not others, but apparently the mobile browsers delete the scroll bars to preserve screen real estate, which initially seems to eliminate the ability to scroll. The solution is to swipe with two fingers and the page scrolls fine. This is actually addressed in the iPad user manual, but who reads manuals!

That explains why just a few pages don't scroll properly. No problem though, just scroll with two fingers and it works fine.

Well, the two finger scrolling works fine on the iPad, but not the Galaxy Tab. Apple must have built in the two finger swipe in anticipation of pages with scrolling problems. Anyone have a Windows mobile device that they can check this?

Innnnteresting. Thanks for the info. I must get my hands on and ipAad to test this. Donations are welcome. :smiley1:

The Galaxy Tab uses Android's 2.2 Froyo OS, which Google told everyone NOT to use on tablets. They recommended waiting for the new 3.0 Honeycomb OS which is being designed for tablets. Samsung and others didn't want to wait so they used 2.2 OS. I suspect the 3.0 OS will have this figured out as well. Then other thing we will have to check is when RIM releases the Playbook tablet. That will have RIM's flavor of tablet OS based on the Blackberry OS, I would hope they have this resolved as well. I don't plan on getting one of those, but I am sure I can find someone who does.

Well, I plan on getting the iPad 2 as soon as it is released, hopefully in a few months. I'll give you a good deal on the one I have now! :silly:

Bryan, did you try using two fingers to swipe scroll? That did the trick for me.

Same thing I saw, but it did show up when I swiped with two fingers. At least on the iPad it did. Android devices did not work. If it doesn't work for you, try upgrading to the new iOS if you haven't already

Hmmm, I don't have any problem accessing that on my iPhone or iPad. Which iPhone are you using and do you know what iOS version?

I am happy to report that all areas of the museum, including the galleries, work fine on a Motorola Xoom. It's running Android version 3, so I am certain that the previous problems were related to the OS. Version 3 was made specifically for tablets while the previous versions were for phones. This Xoom is pretty cool. Finally a worthy opponent to the iPad.

You need to upload your photos to an online source such as photobucket or if you have your own ftp site. Then you need to get the URL which shows the path to where the photo resides. Photobucket should give you an option to see this. Copy the URL, click on the yellow photo button at the top of the box where you are typing your message and paste the URL in there, Click OK and your photo is posted. There is a thread here at the museum someplace that gives instructions which are probably easier than what I just went through.

I visit the museum a majority of my time via my iPad or iPhone.
The only problem I Seem to encounter a lot is in PMs.
If I type a lonnnng reply, I find I cannot scroll in the message box if I goof up.
I just saw this thread, so I will pay more attention to be able to provide specifics.

I did just try Galleries, and the two finger swipe worked for me too.
That's prolly what I need to do in PMs when I write...probably how to do PMs on Facebook too and I just never realized it until now lol.
