View Full Version : Buck Rogers Update

I received the prototypes for all five figures yesterday and for the most part I was very impressed with them. There's still a few tweaks that need to be made but Buck and Tigerman, which are the first two to be released, are pretty much ready to go. Unfortunately I can't post any pics until after the New York Comic Con but I feel like some will show up online during the Friday that the show starts.

Speaking of the New York Comic Con, I was told a few days ago that Gil Gerard will not be able to attend because he'll be shooting a movie. That was a major bummer for me when I got the news but hopefully at some point I'll get to meet the guy.

Oct. 8th will be here before we know it. Hopefully, Gil will have a change of heart. When I saw him in August I didn't know he was going to be at the show.

Too bad Gill won't be able to attend, I met him once at a con years ago and he seemed like a very nice guy. I'll be there on Saturday, can't wait to stop by your booth, check out the figures and say hi.

There's still no definite release date but they should be available around late November or early December.

I forget if this has been answered - what's Buck going to be wearing? The spandex pilot body suit that the Mego 12" has, or his formal dress uniform with the blue jacket - I guess it's just like Dr. Huer w/o the sash. I assume it's the white pilot outfit.

He'll be wearing the white spandex pilot suit like the MEGO 12" version.

OUCH....wow I thought I was the harsh one around here. Last I heard GIL was working on the BUCK ROGERS show that Cawley ENT from Star Trek Phase 2 was working on playing Buck's father and Erin was playing the mother or the MILF

I asked them about it. Sadly, it didn't make the trip because it wasn't ready. They said if interest is there, they will produce a handful for retail.

These look awesome. A bit saddened that the star fighter wasn't ready in time, but very exciting to see these figures themselves.

The outfits and accessories all look phenomenal. The headsculpts are all pretty good... but I need to see Buck without the helmet before passing judgment (hopefully that pic will show up here soon).

And the Adam West figure? Brilliant! Of course this one was a complete shock, but I love it. "Hey, it's not a Batman figure. But I have no control over what customizers choose to do with it."

I am basking in the retro Mego love right now.

I total agree. However, the Diamond Select Universe Monsters' Frankenstein and Wolf Man looked pretty good too.

ZICA = HOT TOYS quality

DS Universal Monsters = SIDESHOW TOYS quality

It's just a matter of time before, "ZICA quality" becomes the benchmark around these parts.

I'm still waiting on the actual production cost for the Starfighter but the tooling is being done in such a way that copies can be made. If the demand is there after the retail price is revealed I'll definitely make multiples of the ship. Once I have all of the details I'll be sure to post them here.

The hangar display is a different story as no molds were made for it. However, it still might be possible to make them available but it all depends on the demand and the price.

Both of these would be special order items.

I'll be working with Zica to figured out how to make a (semi) mass produced version of the display available. The whole idea was to showcase the amazing Zica BR figures- we drew a little inspiriation from the old Mego Starfighter Command Center, but with an eye for making it much more like the actual hangar set from the Buck TV series.

I can't wait to see what the display will look like with the starfighter in front of it, and also with the second wave of figures posing on it!

Very cool. Price permitting, this would be a neat play set to own... and would probably work for a variety of sci-fi-ish settings.

And while we are requesting pics... Craig, any chance we can get a glimpse of Buck without his helmet?

That base would be neat for display purposes. I hate to say it but a vinyl and cardboard playset wouldnt fit in with the hyper realism of the figures. Pretty much have to be what Ranger 3 has done here.

Unfortunately I don't have a website at the moment, though it is in my plans, but I my plate is usually full enough that it usually gets pushed off my priority list. Some of my stuff is on my Photo Bucket (http://s739.photobucket.com/home/William_Mayers_III/allalbums) . Even that is a WIP, since I haven't uploaded everything from my old Image Shack account that decided to just randomly delete images yet.:googly: Anyhow, I do a lot of stuff for people over on Sideshow Freaks (http://sideshowcollectors.com/index.php), and I am also working with william shatners toupee, whos a member over there as well as here, on some 1/6th scale stuff for his Warriors Gate Productions (http://www.wix.com/warriorsgateprod/customs).

I only did 1/6th scale clothing until Craig got hold of me at the beginning of the year, and asked if I was interested in working in this scale, so I gave it a shot, So I am fairly new to working in this scale, but I quite enjoy it. Actually, I hadn't even owned a Mego type figure since about 1980 when my little brother decided to play with my Mego Batman and Aqua Man in the local creek and they got carried of by the current, though the jerk did manage to come home Joker and Superman.:smiley1:
