    A Man Called Sloane

After years of digging, I finally tracked down a season set of this obscure spy/sci fi series.

To jog memories, Sloane was a Man from U.N.C.L.E type show that had Robert Conrad in the lead, the headquarters was in the back of a toystore and Sloan's sidekick, Torque has a mechanical hand.

I only watched two episodes last night but I saw both as a kid. In the pilot, Roddy McDowell plays an evil scientist hoping to take over the world with his android army. This is the third seventies show I've seen in recent months where McDowell plays a scientist and the second where he has an army of Androids!

Anyway, the show is pure cheese and D-U-M-B, it sent my wife off to bed early but i felt nine again. Anyone else remember it?

Never saw it, but I always felt like Robert Conrad would have made the PERFECT Green Lantern. He had the look, and that macho swagger and charm.

What years did this series run?

I remember watching this on Friday nights I believe...around '79 or '80. It wasn't around long though

It ran in fall '79, I vividly remember watching this on New Year's '79. Conrad is actually miscast in this, while macho enough he isn't very suave.

Wow, I never heard of this, and this was on during my childhood. Interesting.

I think that's one reason why Conrad would have made a good Hal Jordan. Hal's all man, but he's not a sophisticated type. He sold insurance and drove a truck at one time or another!

Yeah, at one point Conrad is putting the moves on a girl and it comes off like an Insurance salesmen in a holiday Inn lounge somewhere. Not exactly Roger Moore....
