I will start it.
My team won (LSU), but looked like crap. We will be lucky to win 8 this year.

I think it's too much to ask with a freshman QB
We won't even talk about the gators, I think they are still looking for a couple of those snapped footballs. Rumor has it one cleared the stadium!!:ugh_y:

The best games I watched all weekend were Boise State-Virginia Tech, Navy-Maryland, and Tulsa-East Carolina.
Florida and Oklahoma both moved down in the polls, despite winning, based on being pretty flat. I wouldn't expect to see that from either next week. I'm not sure what to think of the Sooners after that performance. Hoping it was just a fluke and not indicative of anything serious.
Oklahoma State surprised the heck out of me. Yeah, I know it was Washington State, but no way did I expect them to win by that margin or put up the numbers they did. Kendall Hunter finally looks like the All-American he was a Sophomore after being banged up and missing most all of last season.

Maryland/Navy was awesome. Maryland has had a rough football program these past two seasons and Navy is a really good football team. I was completely shocked to see Maryland pull the upset. I don't expect much from them which just makes it great when these upsets do occur.

That was a solid win. Navy ran all over them and dominated the stats, but the Terps bowed up when they needed to. That last goal line stand showed me they wanted it more.

Yeah, I don't ever want to hear about them beating Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl again. :smiley1:
You know, Boise State might just become a template for how to get it done. That's a team of guys that will probably never play in the NFL (or at least won't be leaving until they've put in their time) and without that distraction, you get some continuity and teams that are "teams" like we used to see. Boise State is "Old School" and "Old School" is shaking it up. The pendulum might swing back to what College Football has traditionally been should they keep winning. You can bet the "playbook" will change if they ever win a National Championship.
Granted, they may become a victim of their own success when they get a shot at big time players, but if they win with these types of players, it might be a sign of things to come. Continuity and being able to develop players is all but lost, but Boise State and TCU are kind of reminding us of how it should be.
Just to put this into perspective, Boise State has only been a Division 1 team since 1996.
And yes, it is about coaching, but it's also about the "program". Houston Nutt, Dirk Koetter and Dan Hawkins established something that Petersen has built on. However, all three of them used the program as a stepping stone to better programs. And what can you say about any of Petersen's predecessors, now?
Petersen came in committed and I give him credit for what he has achieved.

Boise St is a good team, but they do not deserve a shot at the NC because of strength of schedule.
Can they go undefeated with a schedule even like LSU's schedule (and we don't even have the toughest schedule). LSU plays six top 25 teams.
For the record, I do not believe in playoffs. I like the ranking system.

While I agree, they are trying to go out and play some tough teams. Nobody wants to play them.
On the other hand, I think VT is over rated, they have one play, run the QB.
I do wish there was a playoff system.

My Razorbacks ONLY have a chance if the entire Bama team gets food poisoning.
I think they will put up a good fight, but Bama is just too good and too strong.

We're heading out in a few to set up camp, so I gotta miss the game, but thanks for reminding to pick up a sixer of Newcastle. That's gonna taste good with some bratwurst.

wow! what a start! 7-0 Arkansas. It is early, but Bama looks confused and out of sync.

If Arkansas can play mistake free football, they have a chance.

Some nice adjustments by Saban and the staff at halftime holds Arkansas to 3 points in the second half. They finally got after the Arkansas QB. Give Arkansas credit. They were ready to play. A really good game.
Bama will have to step it up from here on out. It's not going to get any easier.

^ I knew Bama was going to be a tough win. It doesn't help when your QB hands the other team a gift though. Mallet just lobbed the last pass when he should have zipped it out of bounds. He lost that game single- handedly.
Bama is beatable. It will be fun to see how the SEC West shakes out. I think Arkansas has grown up to the point that they can beat any team left on their schedule. The question mark is will Mallet lay any more eggs?
ScottA
Sep 25, '10, 7:12 PM
I absolutely agree they are beatable this year. The D just is not the same as last year (although so far they are making plays when it counts). We'll just gave to see who will do it. It is fun seeing other SEC teams in the spotlight like Arkansas and South Carolina.

Arkansas had a shot but Bama is just too seasoned of a team to get rattled. They've been there and done that in big games. Too much of a load for Mallet to carry by himself. What it does show is that Bama can be beat if you don't turn the ball over and that Arkansas can play with most any team. It was fun to see. They need to find another McFadden type back.

There's still a lot of talent out there and if one of their backs were to step up then that will take a lot of the load Mallet is carrying. They've got a talented bunch of athletes on both sides of the ball. Plus a little more experience in big games will give them the confidence they need. Just a few adjustments and they'll be even with teams like Bama and Florida
I'm still not that impressed with my Gators, although the game last night was amazing, the freshman Burton 6 td's wow.

How does this thread get pushed to page 5, especially after last week end?
Since the last post, Bama has gone done, FLA has lost two in a row, and my Tigers are 6-0.

I appreciated people for not bad-mouthing Bama on the loss. No one was more shocked than our state. We all knew the undeaten streak wasn;t going to last forever. The good thing is the target if off their backs and they can just play football now. Still have a good shot to be back in the title gane if they can run the table, although we still have undefeated LSU and Auburn to go.

So how were your games yesterday? Bama bounces back, Auburn and Arkansas in a shootout (where were the defenses?), Miss St beats Fla and South Carolina loses to Kentucky. The SEC is going crazy.
Next week LSU vs. Auburn. The game to watch I think.
