Just wanted to let everyone know that work has officially started on the ZICA female body. The really good news is that all of the prototype development is being handled here in the US by a company who also does work for Mattel and Hasbro. I recently visited them to go over all of the details on the female body and was extremely impressed with the quality of work that I saw when I was given a tour of their facility.

Development on the female body should go much faster than it did on the male body since there is no language barrier to contend with and I'm able to have face to face meetings. As soon as I have a prototype in hand I'll be sure to post pics.

^^^ Ditto! Anything to get it done in the USA unless the company in question is an overseas company based in the USA? :)

I gave them a reproduction MEGO female body to use as the height reference.

Awesome! Go USA! If production of the Female Z-Body goes well, I wonder if this company could produce more of the Male Z-Bodies? It would be great for a fast turnover of new figures from production to match that lightning speed that Craig was able to get those Z-bodies mailed out when they came in. Anyhow, I'm definately looking forward to seeing the progression of these!

The company here in the US only does prototyping, not production. The bodies will still be manufactured in China. The male body was prototyped in China which is why it took so long to get it made. Most of the time I had to wait 24 hours to get a response, sometimes longer. With the female body I can simply make a phone call or drive to their shop and go over things face to face.

If the ZICA female body turns out great this company should redo the Mattel male prototype body, so they can produce a proper body in China :wink_y:

I to was concerned at first when I read that initially. Then I know the great person that Craig is and I am most positive that he will not let us down. Craig actually asked US for our input. The actual people that will be buying the product. Now that is first class all the way.

Sadly, even with someone knowledgable consulting from the outside Mattel failed to listen to reason. Mattel ended up doing things their way because they thought their way is always better.

That is the big difference between a big company and someone willing to take the time to listen and do things right.

That body's got a lot to live up to if you're going to use it for Wilma and Ardala. :drool_y:

Exactly, so its really a different situation all together. In the end, Craig doesn't have whittle down the cost of final product by every little penny possible even if it hurts the final products quality just to please thousands of shareholders who could care less about much other than profit margins such like big corporations like Mattel.

I'm waiting with bated breath here. I hope we can see the prototypes in time for the NY ComiCon in October.

I plan to be there, just to get a gander and the Buck Rogers figures.

I was at DragonCon, and Gil Gerard was there, but sadly, I didn't get the chance to see him.

I can't wait to see what kind of accessories you come up with for these beauties.:drool_y:

If you're able to attend the New York Comic Con you'll be able to see Gil Gerard. Unless something changes between now and then he'll be sitting next to the display signing autographs.

COOL!

I just finished posting a thread about one of my vintage Dinah's coming with a melted boob. The rest of her is fine, and I really don't want to throw her body away, but the melted boob ruins the line of the clothing she wears!

I'm looking forward to the Con, and seeing the display, even if the prototype female figures aren't there.
