Anyone ever fix a motor on these things? or is it just shot and still useable or displayable but in a limited way?

yeah its still displayable.
when you batteries in it does the motor sound and no action?
than the gears have worn a groove in each other,or split in 2 pieces.
or with the motor drive shaft sometimes its not knurled so shaft and the pressure fit drive gear has no friction to "lock " with shaft ,and the shaft just spins.
also be corrison on the battery contacts could cause not to function, or loose or broken wire some where.
I have to check my copters do see if they can be taken apart . that was the problem with AJ horse ,they were glued together,later releases like in the apes line were not.

The grease used in these little motors hardens after years of disuse. To free one up, "jumpstart" the motor with more voltage than it normally gets from the batteries. I usually use a 6v lantern battery or a 9v battery. You only need to let it run for a second or two, then it'll work with its normal batteries.
