Cool story and pics, Benjamin! That story really struck a chord in me because I can really relate to several parts of it. My mother made me a great Superman costume for Halloween when I was 5 years old. I'll try to find a pic and scan it.

And I also had a friend who was a fellow KISS nut. He introduced me to their music around 1977. We listened to the records together, endlessly drew pictures of them, read the comics and played with the Mego KISS dolls when they finally came out (and we dressed up like the various members for Halloween, my mother did a great job with the makeup). And yes, I had a chance to go see the band, during their 1979 Dynasty tour, with my friend and his father (sorry, no hot mother in my story ). But I had to come up with the money myself (my parents were kind of strict that way, they didn't just give me money anytime I wanted something) and just couldn't swing it, so I missed the concert. I never had the chance to see them perform in makeup until the first reunion tour years later.

          -Chris

Sweet costume. Sure beats the Ben Cooper versions my firend and his brother had at that time!

Loved the story and pics, Ben. Reminds me of my own childhood so very much. KISS, Cheap Trick and Superman were huge for me back then....and come to think of it, not much has changed!

If KISS decide to do another tour again, you're welcome to come to Chi-town and come along, I'll pick up the tix Not quite the same as seeing 'em at Cobo back around '78, I admit.

I have some funny Cheap Trick stories to share with you someday though!
