    Busted at School

My 8 year old 2nd grader got busted at school for carrying a toy in his pocket which he kept messing with.

    Why am I posting this.

The offending toy was a Pocket Hero's Hulk.

    Somehow it seemed appropriate.

The day ended in heartbreak as PH Hulk did what many mego made Hulk's do. Broke off an arm and lost his head.

Lesson-- 30 year old pocket hero's really shouldn't be carried in one's pocket.

Just found it kind of entertaining, 30 years after it's release, PH Hulk is still sneaking into school in a child's pocket.

Okay, I'm glad schools are enforcing a little discipline, but I just wanted to make sure the toy wasn't broken by the teacher.

Maybe I was in some bad schools, but when I was a kid, teachers confiscated toys and comics. Some were thrown away or destroyed. Some were kept and never returned. I had a math teacher who had a drawer full of comics (including 1 or 2 of mine) in fifth grade. Many teachers in the 70's still subscribed to Wertham's theories about comic books. This hostility often extended to anything dealing with sci fi, fantasy, and horror.

It seems there were still remnants of this until I got to college.

Yeah Paul, I was waiting for the controversy to arise with this one.

Thomas, my son has been a megoman since he was 2. By the time he was 4, he would tell you he's both "a modern and vintage toy collector"

Note- No the toy was not broken by the teacher, she didn't even take it away, just made him put it in his backpack in his locker. She's pretty cool. It broke when he put it back in his pocket on the way home.

Well, I work in an after school program, so I usually don't take toys away from kids, unless they're fighting. However, we are a peace academy, so they aren't allowed to bring weapons or things w/ weapons, and it's required that they share. I even set these rules when I bring my toys!

Awesome Dave. Sorry about Hulk though. My son has more 8" Megos than I did as a kid. And he has a CAH Batman and Pocket Batmobile. Mego: The Next Generation!
