His a type of co-polymer plastic, also known as a self lubercating plastic, like ortholen but not as strong, Glues do not work.
if it a boot split ,I heat up a razor blade in a vise with a Blow torch ,cherry red hot, wait for it cool down bit than i open the boots split between the hot razor and gently squeeze together at same time silde down and off the razor blade all together squeezing the boots halfs to each other.

Please be more specific in what you are trying to repair.

How about for a split shoulder seam? Would you do the razor blade thing?

That kind of repair isn't strong enough to withstand the stress put on it by the compressed neck plug and the internal elastics. Post a wanted thread in Marketplace requesting a replacement chest piece and you should be able to get one for next to nothing.

yeah It should work, I repaired split hip sections the same way.Just take everything apart from the piece that being reparied if you can.
DON't squeeze to hard on the hot metal and silde off quickey.

BUT do Dry runs to get the best angle, .
Practice on old beat up G.I.Joe boots FIRST!

And Don't Burn yourself! DON"T set the house on fire!
remenber i have and Industrial work shop.

TOny brought up a good point, it might fuse together but it can split apart again when incerting the head.

I've done the razor thing as well. If you don't have the workshop, torch and vice that Richard has, you can do what I do. Use a pair of needle nose to hold the razor blade and heat them in the fire of your stove top (if you have a gas stove.

Ant is right though, there is only so much pressure it can take. I've done this with the head already installed and it's held up, but try to remove the head, or insert a new one, and it will pop.
