View Full Version : 8" scale helicopter, car, and figures at Toys R' Us

Spotted these yesterday. I imagine the scale choice is due to the GIJoe Sigma 6 line. I hope more knockoff/crap-toy companies make more stuff if that's the case. Figures are crap, and the sadly the heads are too small to transfer over, though they might scale to Lion Rocks okay. But the vehicles might thrill someone. The car is 19.99, and the helicopter is 24.99, and different boxes had different figures included. The brand is 'Elite Operations.' I wish they'd used a different chopper design though.

I also hope they make a jet plane in this scale, like they have for their smaller sets.

One FYI, three of the 3 3/4 scale sets have been recalled due to the use of lead-based paint or sharp edge concerns, but that's it as far as I know.

that copter has some interesting possibilities (Batman wouldnt have to fly around in the Mego bumper car version anymore).

Looks like there is a lot of weapons for customs fodder in those kits too.

Heck, you could even repaint the figures for background thugs/cops/etc.

Yes, I saw these at TRU not long ago. I really like them as custom fodder... problem is I don't know EXACTLY how I'd use them. Still, they are excellent, and may someday come into play. I think I will try to snap them up when they go on clearance, cause I don't think they'll sell as well as Sigma 6 (of which they're a knock off, of course).

Who's got ideas?????????????

The car would be good for Action Jackson, and there are more than a few guys here that have done customs of the Adventure team in Mego scale.

Any chance yoiu can get a pic of the dune buggy? What colors does it come in? I've had some desire for a Mego scaled Dune Buggy lately.

Yeah I got some of those I was going to order More But the window for ordering summer toys was past.
I gave one as a mego Meet prize with 2 figures.
The one I have is light green body with a royal blue chassie, and BIG puddle stomper tires.

the copter is hard plastic so customizing it should be easier.

T-bolt,

IMO 9" figs are to big... I really think standard megos are also to big... Definately Lionrock custom material. However the jump-pack looks perfect for my 40K Space Marine I have on the workbench.

If you can squeeze a 12 inch figure in it,Than 9inch should also fit!:googly:

"Squeeze" is the key word ... I think it would look like an adult riding a .25 cent helicopter in front of a grocery store. That's just my opinion from what I saw at TRU.

Yeah one seat cockpit .Its the yugo of flying machines for 12 inch action figures.
Side cargo door opens so you can shove that little snot Robin in the back.

walmart verison
came In 4x4 foot styrofoam display box.with a swamp boat, and bivouac,
ATV, all Under sized for the four 12 inch figures it came with.
But for 39.99 I could not past it up.

I bought this, but I've determined that it is NOT really Mego scale. The cockpit seems a bit big. Also too small for 1/6th scale.

I have, however, given it over to the community (me & my 9 & 11 year-old kids) loose Famous Covers pile. We have almost all of the FCs and Hasbro DCs that we play with and generally set up in poses for fun.

The 'copter is perfect for them. The controls fit like a glove into the hands of Hasbro Punisher, and I'm actually thinking now of customizing a Nick Fury and some SHIELD agents FC-style to do it up right.

It also has some really cool effects, such as lights, sound, and a gatling gun that turns and is LOUD. The kids like to have Batman or Punisher fly it to attack Hulk.

It's fun and worth the $25! The figures that come with, however, are bizarre (teeny-teeny heads, molded-on clothing, and almost NO articulation), and even my kids hate 'em.

I'm trying to get / build a Cool looking R/C ride for AJ so my son and I can rediscover the 1970s!

What exactly is "Mego Scale"? Assuming AJ represents a 72" (6 foot) man & he's 8" then that'd be 1/9 scale, correct? GI Joe is established as 1/6 for a 6 footer.

AJ actually strikes me as being 5'10" which makes him 70" which would be 1/8.75 scale...1/9 scale is it, right? Did I get my math right? (I was busy thinking about AJ's adventures and such when I was taking math in 4th grade!! )

If I've got it right, a jeep should be 14.75 Inches in length for 8" Figures. Anybody have AJ take R/C rides???..find any good vehicles? Any info is welcome! Thanks!

If you use 6 foot ,8 inch times 9 feet divided by 12 inches = 6feet
the gay toys car 17 to 21 inches & is your best bet or any car between those measurements
so 8"X9'/12=6'
17" X9'/12" =12.17'

I'll be impressed when I can find a Bell 47 helicopter - or something that resembles it - for 8" figures

8" Megos are considered 1/9 scale, correct?

Pardon my ignorance, but I did see a gay toys car on e-bay...this is probably gay as in happy, I hope???:yeah:

I came up with the jeep measurement from the specs of a WWII jeep which is 132.75inches / 9 = 14.75 Inch Jeep Length Car for 8" Figure. A jeep being shorter than a car would make a 17-21 in car accurate. Gay toys....hmmm, what the heck?

Oh yeah!!! That's what I wanted to hear! I've seen some that appear to be in the correct scale but it looks like I'd have to saw off the plastic rider in order to put another figure in it's place. I'm only looking at pictures, though.

If it's not too much bother, could you give me the names of AJ's rides?

Hey, a photo would be awesome, too!!! Thanks.

I didn't find it at Wal-Mart but I'm sure they exist. I'll keep looking.

The Pro-Line "Root Ripper" All Terrain body would probably be a bit much for 'ol AJ!!
