I'm not super regular over here much as-of-late, so forgive me if this has been hit on already.

Just saw this on Action-Figure.com and wondered what's next from the makers of this guy.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Dr Mego is behind this. Looks neat, we need more of this kind of stuff out there.

Nice to see you again BTW!

Well if it's something he was hired as the manufacturer on, it would not be his place to announce it. If I hold the license for a toy and have someone else put the item together, they have to keep quiet about it.

The limited production run number surprises me, this sounds more like the Greatest American hero business model than the Star Trek model. Either way, its great to see any Mego style figures done professionally in any quantity. Looking forward to hearing more about this one.

Look like a exclusive blood-splattered version is available from the comic book company now:

The smirk makes me think so. I cannot tell for sure either, but I am definitely intrigued.

As others have said, I love the format and attempts to get it out there.

I don't know, maybe it's just me but by looking at the boots maybe it is the "secret," project Castaway Toys has been working on. might be that cool body, they couldn't show at MegoMeet!

Not in that clamshell and actually, I just know that the Castaway project is a different character.

Wow, who'd've thought something like this could have made it this far under the radar?

question then I guess would be, if this isn't from one of the few "major players" we're aware of, is there a new 8" body out there? or maybe just a new reverse eng. remake?

the Dr. seems like a good option here. could be breaking into the comic scene after trek hit previews.

I'm always around somewhere Brian....mostly based on myspace. but I always find my way back here, one of the best sites on the net today.

This is really under the radar; I don't even think there's an announcent on Warren Ellis' official site. I'll place an order for one before telling him, though.

Is it just me, or does that helmet look like a reasonable facsimile of a Buck Rogers helmet?

The Black Summer figure is named John Horus - I made them exclusively for Avatar Press. After the success of the FX Greatest American Hero,
they approached me about this. I loved Warren Ellis' Authority so
I was jazzed to do this.

It wasn't so much a secret project as it was a background one.
Everything on him is China made except the helmet which I cast
myself. Avatar needed them done for the San Diego Comic Con
so it was a lot of manhours to make that deadline.

I didn't think to post here about them because I had to keep
mum about the apes.

Only 750 were produced - of those only 100 were blood spattered.

EMCE is working with Avatar Press on some other projects - and
I promise I will tell you guys about it when it happens.

Are there any close up pictures of this figure. None of the ones I saw were very detailed. Is this mostly pieced together from existing China made parts, r are there new ones (besides the cast helmet)?

I like it. The more Mego-like toys coming out the better, I say. I don't know the character, but I like it.
