    Rip Off of the Jedi

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Ideal Toys certainly was sweet talking George Lucas with their line S.T.A.R Team toys in 1978. Each action figure had a vaguely "galaxy, far, far away" look to them. Also included is Ideal's electronic action figures Electroman and Zogg, enjoy.

I still have my KNIGHT OF DARKNESS. It was the first "Star Wars" toy that came out that I saw. I had this before I had the Kenners.

"Electroman" huh? I feel an 8" custom coming on...... Could Dr. Kromedome FINALLY have a suitable foe?

Brian, Zem-21 was NOT built on an Action Boy body.

I still have the Knight of Darkness from when I was a kid. I always wondered what his name was....

I think my mom thought she was buying me a Darth Vader figure one Christmas and thought that was him.

Another one of my childhood mysteries solved.

I remember picking up Knight of Darkness, Zem 21 and Zeroid on clearance at Kmart for a couple bucks each. Cheesy ripoffs sure, but I really enjoyed playing with them, I definitely got more than my money's worth.

Thats really cool. I currently have an Electroman hanging from my rafters. He has flesh colored hands and his boots are not as dashing. Could the catalog picture be a pre-production prototype?

I actually keep all of my loose Comic Action Figures in a "Star World" carrying case. Have since I opened up when I was 10. Never had the figures but the case sure came in handy!

Was there ever an original 60's Zeroid that looked like the one in the STAR Team? I thought they used a Zeroid body and slapped the dome and light on it. This explains why it looks so much like R2D2 because they retooled it to do just that. Wasn't Kent an Action Boy body with a Mork suit and helmet? The cruiser is an Evil Knevil Sky Cycle and you litterally had to jam Kent in because he was of a muck larger scale!

Is it just me or does Zogg look like the mutant baby from Larry Cohen's movie It's Alive that would have come out around that time?
