I remember when we went to the drive-in to see this. Everyone in the car agreed they didn't like it and we left less than 1/2 way thru it.

I remember liking it as a kid. Nothing earth shattering, just a solid entertaining movie. I'm not sure what I'd think of it now. I didn't like any of Castles other films at all.
By the way, Castle's directing a sequel called "Starfighter" supposedly coming out this year:

Hey,
One of my favorites, and a DVD that I watch at least once every month.

I've never seen it.
I do remember all the hoopla that it was the first sci fi movie to use CGI ships throughout.

worth cathcing on rental mike. Robert Preston basically recreated Prof harold hill from the music man in a sci fi setting but it really works
I loved this film, as a kid my sister boyfried had a hacked game Atari did that was never released I played it for Hours on his AMIGA

I remember the movie I haven't seen it since it came out years ago. Something about a curly headed kid that a big Lizard teaches him to fly a space fighter???? I will have to watch it as an adult to be able to get it, I think I was like 12 when it came out. There are lots of movies that are way better when you watch them as an adult and there are some that you loved when you were a kid and watch them now to wonder what was I thinking back then???

The only problem with them making a sequel is that Robert preston died years ago. :(

great movie. effects don't hold up so well now. I saw it recently on TV and the effects were pretty weak. still an all around entertaining movie though. wonder if the sequel will have the same actor all grown up now.
