I've read on the internet (not always a valid source) that the current rights holder to "Party Beach" rejected the hotdog mouth for the creature.

I thought "Party Beach" was in public domain by now. All the new "horror hosts" use it for their shows.

a few years back one toy magazine had a horror of party beach creature and I have been looking for it ever since. I wonder if it was this company? Was this in production for a very long time (as in actually getting it done and out there)?
Also what is a good, reliable place on where I can purchase one?

IS that the official colors for Mr. Sun Demon?

I don't think it's in the public domain and that license holder idea seems to come straight from Amok Time.

And of course, whether it's the fault of Amok or the licensor or some tired kid only making a quarter an hour in Asia, it doesn't matter. As the consumer, I don't care WHY it's not accurate, only that it isn't. The why might be intellictually interesting, but it doesn't make a difference in my opinion of the final product. Personally, I don't know why Amok bothered to do this one if they weren't able to do it right - aren't there a million other grade B 50's monsters out there to do?
And yes, this thing has been in production for a very long time. Getting is straight from Amok is the easiest, most reliable method.

There are very few products that come out 100% accurate. I would go as far to say that 90-100% accurate on any given product is the exception not the norm. Let’s clear up some facts here. Our studio sculpted the prototype for the Horror of Party Beach. This figure was produced by Executive Replicas. Amoktime is the distributor. We were supplied with reference by the licensor which mainly consisted of scans of a photo story from an old Warren magazine. In those photos someone had replaced all the tongues/hotdogs with teeth. The licensor insisted that the figure be done this way. Being a collector myself I knew there would be some issues of accuracy, and fans not being happy. I suggested a way that the figure could be produced that would allow for the figure to come with the teeth and an alternate insert for the mouth that would be more screen accurate. The person in charge wouldn't approve it. The reality is many licensed products can only get made if some compromise is made. That being said customizing this figure could be one of the fastest and easiest modifications ever. Find an old Light Bright and take enough pegs to fill the mouth. Prime them and then paint them pink/red, whatever color. Finish with high gloss clear. Done. I don’t like having to customize out of the box figures any more than anyone else. It’s time consuming and can get expensive. However a good base figure can go a long way toward having the figures you always dreamed of. If you know someone who can make a custom from scratch Horror Beach monster that equals the quality of this figure, and do it for 70 bucks, I’d like to see it.

I wouldn't be surprised if some enterprising person starts offering "hot dog resin' kits.

cool!!
I received my Sun Demon from Amok Time last week and am very happy with the figure. It's a bit pricey but worth it if you're a campy creature fan.
>mainly consisted of scans of a photo story from an old Warren magazine
Oh yeah! I forgot about that one!
>that would allow for the figure to come with the teeth and an alternate insert for the mouth
That's a neat idea! Weird that they wouldn't go for it though. I've heard of other strange behind the scenes things leading to weird stuff.... maybe they had the rights specificly to the magazine version?
