There's several trips I'd love to make in my lifetime. A cruise along the Nile, touring through Thailand, touring through the States and a trip to Africa are amongst my favorites on the to do list.

I've heard first hand stories from people who've gone to Octoberfest. While it's fun to go with a bunch of guys it ain't exactly as you would think. You need to reserve a space to sit and inside the tents there's hardly room to move. And the choice of music grows weary after a short while as well.

Thomas you would Love the USA. I've been all around the states. I've been to some great places including New Orleans, Bourbon street totally rocks. California has so much to offer as well. You definately have to make the trip IMO.
I never knew that Octoberfest would be like that. Even still I would have a blast :beaming1:

Yep, I've been to Octoberfests when I was stationed in Germany during the Cold War.. {yep, it's what the kids are reading about in the history books now..}
Me..? I'd either spend a two-week trip in England on some Beatles Bus Tour, climb mountains in India, or just sit in my basement guitar room (man cave) by the wet bar in front of the big screen.
I'm a simple kind of guy.

I'd love to go to Europe and tour every country ....
Start in England and work my way east To Russia, then swing up and hit Scandinavia and finally finish in South Europe around the Mediteranian.

I've been to some countries in Europe (in the 90s, when I used to travel a lot)...aside from England and Ireland...most of my tour was in the Mediterranean part of Europe, Portugal, Spain, France (sorry Meule, no Belgium), Italy...and took a boat ride to Greece. Most of it was done by train using a Eurail pass (not applicable to the United Kingdom).
I almost went to the tip of Africa...Morocco...but canceled that sea trip at the last minute.
I've also traveled to Central America...and parts of South America...Brazil and Argentina.
A friend of mine also took me to Indonesia (Jakarta and Bali)...boy...that was a loooooooong trip... :terror:
I've also been to Hawaii several times...I love it there.
...and Mexico of course...it has so many awesome beaches...but I'm avoiding Mexico right now...this damn drug cartel stuff is really nasty and scary right now...no big violence in the resorts right now (most of the violence are in the border towns)...but it's only a matter of time if you ask me. However...if any of you are planning a Mexican trip...I highly recommend Manzanillo...it's by far...the safest city in Mexico...it also has the lowest unemployment...great nearby beaches...and a world class golf resort...hotel Las Hadas.
The place I'd love to go right now would be New York City....and a cruise to Alaska.

Ever since I was little and saw the Brady Bunch visit Hawaii, I've always wanted to go there. But not Honolulu...maybe Maui or Kawai.
I have been to the Bahamas 3 times, (and going again on this cruise to a few different islands). It's really beautiful there.

Don't worry about it, those other countries are all better than Belgium anyway :smiley1:

My wife and I really want to go to Japan and Egypt ...... at least a week in each place and then I want to run away to Germany to see where my Mom grew up ...... Roy
Take a few weeks and tour either the Miskito Coast or Amazon river.
Vacationing in Central America can be like traveling back in time if you squint your eyes just right.

Italy - specifically Rome, Florence, and Venice
Australia
Japan
Thailand
Nepal
London
Paris
Africa
No big travel plans this year, but in 2011 it's looking like a family trip to Disney World with the wife and daughter plus possibly another backpacking excursion with my brothers back to Yellowstone for a few days and then up to Glacier National Park.

Not being able to speak any other languages except English I think I wouldn't be able to enjoy a lot of places i'd like to visit when I actually got there - because I think people themselves are the best tourist attractions.
I guess I would probably stay in the Anglosphere most of the time.

I have toured the States twice, mostly Nevada and California.
I could happily spend the rest of my life doing the same.
Yosemite, Sequoia, Death Valley, Red Rock.
My kind of Heaven...

Well,
Now that I think about it, North Atlantic States probably look like Belgium anyway :smiley1:

You be surprised how many people speak English in non-English speaking countries throughout the world...English is now an international language.

We natives, we speak to Great Hunter Mike real good.
We show him good time.
We have him for dinner.....:smiley1:
A lot of countries in Europe have English almost as a second language.
Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany. Most Scandinavian countries. Other countries will at least give it a decent try.
Don't expect it in Paris. They're rude to everyone. Remember Monty Python's "I fart in your general direction"?
All true.
Most European cities won't be a problem for English/American tourists, though.

I'd settle for a year or two with Ginger and Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island. Just Ginger and Mary Ann. (Like they were in 1966.)

I'd like to do Scotland, Ireland & Wales, as Toystalker suggested. Maybe then go on to France. I'd also like to go to some of the dig-your-own mines in the US - diamonds in Arkansas, opal in Nevada, etc. My honeymoon was in Saint Martin, and I'd like to go back. Great food & great beaches, with a European attitude towards swimsuits.
