    1979 Corgi Jr Catalog

One of the biggest names when it comes to diecast cars in the world has to be Corgi and in the 1970s they were a licensing machine! If it was hot with kids and involved vehicles then it was likely a Corgi product.

Everybody from Kojak to Batman to James Bond even the rebels from Blake's 7 are representing in the 1979 Corgi Jr Catalog.

I have all the Batman Corgi's, but why is the Penguinmobile yellow in that pic?

The Daily Planet copter wasn't ever released like that, right? The one I had (and have seen since) looked just like the copter from Superman: The Movie.

Your friend is not alone. The Superman Daily Planet truck disturbed my 4-year old mind to no end. I think I lost it at the local community ballpark, and didn't cry about it much.

Remember that great Corgi Jr. ad that ran in DC Comics of the time, right inside the front cover? Showed all the characters running to these cars?

I find them occasionally at flea markets, usually go for a couple of bucks because people think it's just a generic space ship.

I just saw that Metropolis police car in an Argentine antique shop last week. I wouldn't have noticed it if my wife hadn't pointed out that the car said "Metropolis."

I LOVED the super hero ones as a kid, and still have most of them from my childhood. I would really like to pick up some of the ones I didn't have and upgrade some of the ones I have one of these days. Some carded examples would be nice as well.

I also really like the Hot Wheels super hero scene machines.

As goofy as the Supermobile is with those big fists, I still dig it to bits none-the-less.

Wasn't as happy with the Spidercoptor with the webs... it didn't really make sense to me as a kid from an aeronautical POV.

Ridiculous that a five year old accepts giant fists on a spaceship, but not a webbed rotor.

My biggest problem with Spidey vehicles is the fact that Spider-Man can barely make the rent, let alone fund a private helicopter!!!

The comic Spider-Mobile was a "gift" from promoters even.

                            Thats such a cool catalogue.

I still have the Supermobile but mine has red hands instead of silver. My Penguin car is white instead of yellow.

I remember looking into the back windows of my Superman Van and the windows of my Hulk car back when I was a kid after seeing the commercials for the Hot Wheels Super Hero Scene Machines and wondering why I didn't get to see nifty pictures inside of them. I held them up to the light and everything!
