    Kojak by Excel Toys

I've gone on record on many occasions as to not understanding the toyetic appeal of Kojak. Starsky and Huth or SWAT I readily enjoyed as a child but Kojak wasn't something I ever wanted a toy of.
I do admit I think that the Kojak office set is pretty damned skippy however, it even comes with a bad guy who appears to work at footlocker. If I ever happened upon one of these cheap, I'll give it to my Mego Starsky and Hutch dolls.

Who Loves Ya, baby! Actually if I had known about Kojak as a kid I would have bought him to become Lex Luthor.
    It's all good!

When I was a kid, I tried watching Kojak b/c all the kids (who were always allowed to stay up) talked about it in school. I waited til there was a school holiday and watched. I didn't see what the big deal was though. And I suppose I would have felt the same way about the Mego character, (had I known of its existence).

I had this one as a kid, but he was killed in action...

Last year, I bought a mint one (still in the mailer box).
He has a cigar, lollipops and tons of stuff.
No matter what people say, I love this guy!!

I loved most cops shows when I was a kid but I never could get into Kojak and Baretta.

              Thought they were both boring

I remember staring at an end cap of Kojak dolls as a kid and thinking "what kid wants these?". However, I said the same thing about Huggy Bear and Dobey as a child, now I own a pair.

Columbo would have been a great figure because even if you personally didn't watch the show your mom or dad probably did so it was always on.

Also, the classic Columbo parodies on other shows reinforced Columbo's popularity to the masses.

For me, I guess it's the nostalgia of "I had this when I was a kid".

I'm not sure any of us would have wanted a Columbo figure when we were kids.

But think of the awesome customs you could do for The Princess Bride. I do sometimes wonder about how they decided to license certain things in the 1970s. Who, for example, thought, "Let's get The Waltons?" Was there a chance a rival would produce Little House on the Prairie?

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

I plan on grabbing one some day if I can snag a deal on it.
I have a bunch of SWAT, Rookies, Starsky & Hutch, etc that would go well together on display with Kojak.
