I'm wondering if EMCE has thought of doing a Smokey and the Bandit line?

Just for the sake of argument, I'll take a shot.
Use a modified Boss Hogg head. With a bit of work, it could look like Jackie Gleason. That could be Buford T. Justice. (what kind of name is Buford anyway?)
For Bandit, use a Zorro head without a mask, but keep the mustache. Put him in red shirt, blue jeans and cowboy boots; instant Bandit!
For Carrie, maybe a Mary Ellen head.
As for Snowman, maybe a Luke Duke head.
All kidding aside, is there really a market for it? It was a good movie, don't get me wrong. One of the most adult movies I ever saw as a kid, and that was due to all the bad language in it.
It might not work as a license, but it might be nice to see some customs of the movie, just for a laugh.JediJaida -
For someone's custom Bandit, someone actually put a mustache on a Mego Kirk and dang it, it worked.Comment

"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

But I suppose people would want a "Smokey and the Bandit" line so they'd have fodder for their "Evening Shade" and "Flying Nun" customs...Comment

There's a line of Japanese figures called Revoltech, referring to the revolving nature of the swivel articulation rather than the word 'revolting'. As I understand it, they don't do entire lines based on every character in a specific Anime, rather, they pick one or two characters from any given property and do them in the Revoltech style.
That'd be a way to get a Bandit figure, and maybe a few other key 70s touchstones. So like you'd have Bandit, Barney Miller, Fred Sanford, Chico, and maybe Flo from Alice over the course of a year. You get the idea. 70s properties on Retro figures. It could work.
Licensing might not be fun, though.Comment

Being the car and Burt were the stars of the movie, a 3 3/4 release would be more realistic. they would have re-used much of the CB McHaul vehicles and the like. This is how it would have been marketed, and plausible, as well as cost effective. in other words "The Mego Way" I would love to get involved in actually making a mock-up set.Last edited by bizzaro megomauler; Mar 9, '10, 8:45 AM.Comment

I think the 8 inch figures minus accessories would sell.
This movie kicked off the CB radio craze of the 70's, plus lots of people that saw the movie as a kid would like them for nostalgia.
Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?Comment
