At the risk of opening up this can of worms again, the clone explanation isn't quite a thoroughly satisfying "out", but the seeds were planted and pays out this way to explain the body.

Not quite sure how it ties into the Bat-skull and Black Lantern Bat-Clone in regards to an "emotional tether", but I'll roll with it.

So rather than focusing our hate-ons, how about we try to figure out what is going on plot wise with Batman, Blackest Night and the Return of Bruce Wayne... what are you theories of how this all "works" in relation to what Darkseid did to Bats?

i thought he was blasted into the past, hence him being in the cave.

Except for the fact that Superman was clutching Batman's body, they buried a body and Black Hand and Nekron were playing catch with the skull.

Darkseid of course was trying to clone Bruce and it's just been revealed that this body that Dick stuck into a lazarus pit is actually the clone.

I don't read Batman and Robin, or Batman ..., so I dunno What kinda Nonsense is going on in reguards to the Clone.

I do Know that Bruce is Obviously Lost in time ..., and The Batman Reborn book, will cover his efforts to get back to The Present Time Zone... With his chard body still here, Bruce's body was perhaps Split in 2.

As far as Black Lantern Batman..., Considering that the True Black Lantern's ..., are not really the Actual Character's themselves,.. More so thier Drone dead Corpes rizen from the Graves, with Incomplete Memories, of what and who they were .

The Black Lantern Batman was used as a Key , to Turn every Super Hero that "came back to the Land of the Living" into a Black Lantern for Nekron, that's how I inturpreted the Event. I think that with the Body in the Grave currently, it was able to open a gateway to the other Hero's that have already came Back. Because Bruce's Mind and Body is Lost in time,.. His Dead Body could only be used for this "trick" , and was used somewhat as a New Card the Hero's were not ready for.

A bit of this was Covered in Blackest Night Flash 3 ..., and Adventure Comics 7 ... This is what I took from it.

But there can't be a Black Lantern Batman if Bruce himself is still alive and lost in time.

Thus, the Black Lantern Batman is actually the Black Lantern Clone Batman.

The body is actually Darkseid's Clone Batman, and the "touchstone" aspect of that skull is more an emotional/psychological thing for the heroes than anything necessarily physiological when it comes to Bruce himself (lost in time)?

If this is the case, they did plant the seeds, but it's more of a groaner than an "AHA!" moment for me.

This is the problem with these crossovers though, you've got Johns and Morrison writing around each other and I don't think the compromises quite gel.

I guess we'll see how this shakes out in the Bruce Wayne Returns series.

You don't watch that Much Sci-Fi do you ?
Like I said,.. Based on My Reads , and not getting into this NEW Direction ..., I took it as Bruce's Body was split in 2,.. with a Chard Body remaining here..., and everything Else Taking off to the Past Bruce's Dead Body was the Gateway.

Conner's Dead Body is still on Earth ..., Locked away,.. The Conner that came back, came from the Future...

& Look at Zoom..., He's from the Future too ..., And Now Locked up..., The Black Lantern Zoom that came Back, was a Body in the Grave,... From a Different time, where Barry Snaped His Neck.

^^^^ That's how I took it, Darkseid's Omega beams transported Batman's essence elsewhere, leaving the chared husk in the present and Bruce shot back to the dawn of man.

Why was Darkseid cloning Bruce? And why did Dick stick him in the Lazarus Pit?

All this whackadoo crud doesn't belong in the Batman books. Just sayin'.

No, The Real problem was the Fact that FC Was a Complete Train Wreck, that left Story and Plot Idea too Open for the Possible Future, and then the story it's self had you guessing, and making up what just happened.

Secret origin for a new uber-badddie maybe?

"GASP! You mean.... all this time Uber-Fiend was actually.... BRUCE WAYNE?!?!"

"Not Bruce Wayne. I am.... *insert ironic name here*"

samurainoir,

I think you answered your own question. The dead husk that Superman found was a clone body. I get J's explanation since he hasn't been reading the Batman books, but the revelation of the clone came in Morrison's book and he's been leading toward this all along.

I don't think Blackest Night is going to have the answer to "Where's Batman." It'll be answered in the Batman books.

Dick really wanted to do the right thing... bring his father/friend/brother/mentor back to life. Of course, being Dick, he doesn't quite strategize too much and it backfires horribly, but Luck and Pluck pull him through and gives him a chance to hit on Lesbian Batwoman before being chastised by Robin/Damian.

The Clone thing actually was kind of entertaining... if you view him as a Zombie Bizarro. A nice moment where Damian (who's crippled and recovering in a wheel chair) take him on armed only with one working arm and a computer mouse.

If that IS True, and is the New Direction,.. than it absolutely makes no sense, that a Black Lantern Clone, could infact be used as a Gateway to change The hero's that came back to the Living into a Black Lantern, Which makes this Clone story Crap.

And if This is a Clone ..., then Bruce wasn't seperated in 2..., Darkseid fried the Clone, then what, opened a Boom tube and Shot Bruce to the Past to get rid of him ?

Part of me wants to read this now ..., but part of me wants to believe it doesn't exsist,.. because it seems to be over-shadowing and Contradicting what has already been written. :ugh_y:

Sigh. Remember when Dick was treated as a competent, intelligent, hero and a born leader? He had that over Bruce even. That insecure "what do I do" crud stuck somewhere along the way. It drives me nuts.

Dick's secure at being Nightwing, but not at being Batman. It makes perfect sense to me because he's trying to be something he's not, Batman.
