I blogged about my fascination with the G.I. Joe intruder last year. I still don't get why Hasbro thought an outer space cave man was a good first nemesis for G.I. Joe but I also can't deny I'm kind of smitten with him.


Above my newest cheap ebay score, a boxed UK version of Intruder. It seems that Palitoy's Action Man also got him as an enemy (although Action Man would get way cooler space villains to fight later on in the 1970s) and he got a super spiffy box. I really love solid box packaging like this, that artwork makes me smile.



Watch out for his crushing Bear Hug! I have a friend who should also come with this warning...

As a kid I always separated the 12" megos and 8" megos, calling them "big men" and "little men".

Because Intruder was sooo short, he hung out with the "little men", however I made him the unstoppable wrestling champion!

Yeah, I love Intruder.

Incidentally, how tall were the Intruders..? I laughed at how lamed they looked as a kid when they came out, but how tall are they next to Megos..?

Hey!

Didja notice how the Intruder's harness is kinda similar to the Super Joe one? A lost alternate universe back story? Maybe original Joe was in the army, and then joind a special "Action Team" that hired ex-military guys to explore the world, where they ran into aliens and adapted their technology, forming a team of "Super Joes" who protected the Earth form extraterrestrial invaders....?
