Hey everyone,... I just starting to get around to putting together my custom Robin figure. And I figured the easiest place I to begin with, was the belt. I pulled my resources together and this is what I've come up with. It's a black vinyl band with brass finishings... It turned out pretty much exactly as I hoped, and I was wondering what others would think about them.

...Sorry about the muddy pics, this is the best my current camera can do...
I had to buy my materials in bulk, so I thought if people were interested, I could make up a few extra. I also have some black elastic I've been wanting to try instead, to get a closer feel to the original first release Robin. But I'm really liking the almost leather like quality of the vinyl I'm using.
Anyway, let me know what you think.

I like the look of it. It cinches together the tunic better, too. Gloves look great. Where are they from?

Love the gloves and the belt. You did an awesome job on it. Is there any way you could show us the back side of the buckle area? I love the way that goes together. It looks almost like a magnetic enclosure it's so nifty! Also, where'd the gloves come from?
I think those are Cast-Away gloves.
P.S. there's a customs work-in-progress forum. this might get some more attention there.

Okay, I'm sold. Now I want to do a Robin tweaked.
Anyone have a Lion Rock body?
What an inspiration. I will do one after the Mandolorian Bounty Hunter and Thor.
I love this place. Sea of talent.

I like it. Funny how a few "tweaks" here and there can really lift the look of a figure.
I completely agree. Sometimes even the smallest thing can enhance a figure to the point of it looking completely different. It's all in the details. Robin looks great!

Yes, interested.
And I like the leather look, too... probably more than I'd like the elastic. It goes well with the brass.

Yes, the gloves are from C-A-T and are a lot nicer up close than the pics on their site might suggest. They do fit a bit better over the fist hands they offer, but are a little harder to get on and off that way.
The buckle isn't functional. It's made up of 3 pieces and is basically crimped in place on the front of the belt. I can take a shot or two to show how, but it will have to wait till daylight... You know, because of all the damn vampires...... not because I have a cheap camera.
To fasten it, I'm using a small brass slider in the back, holding it shut like a primitive buckle. This way you should be able to have it be as tight, or as loose, as you want. So, it can be closed down to fit the titan sized body, although you might want to trim the excess off a little so it isn't sticking out so far. Personally, I think I had it a little too tight in those pics. But, I was more trying to show off the shiny buckle than anything. :P

Coming along nicely. I LOVE the Belt! I bought those Gloves for the very same reason...I plan on making a Custom Robin. Doc gave me an idea when he told us the Mattel Aquaman was just a Hair "re-sculpt" of the original. So I thought he'd make a really good Robin(once I re-sculpt ther Hair):wink_y:.

If the gloves are from C-A-T, how do you purchase them..?? I'm not familiar with that source. I'll have to purchase a minty one to redo now as well..
I'm keen on seeing what you do to the yellow collar.

I'm planning on updating a Captain America too, and even though I already have red oven mits, I'm really starting to lean towards these.
Here's a shot of the clasp in the back of the belt...

Oh, wow.. I've seen Cast-a-Way mentioned, but I haven't been to the site lately.
Jeez, I have to do a Robin now...
So, perhaps I missed this detail..: Is that pictured on a 7" Lion body or the standard 8"..?
Thanks again ~

It's a standard T2,... the gloves would look huge on a LR body. However, They are a soft plastic like the heads though,... it may be possible to shrink them down, for those who do that kind of stuff.

I've tried using the elastic banding to make the belt, in a similar way to how they were on the first release figures, with mixed results.
http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/8059/robinbelt7.th.jpg (http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/8059/robinbelt7.jpg)
It does look good, and while I don't have to play around with a belt slider or have a loose tongue sticking out in the back... due to the nature of the elastic, it's harder to get the buckle parts to stay in place. Also since you have to force the belt on the body by stretching it and sliding it up over the clothes, there's a greater chance of something getting caught and snagging. Not that there aren't ways around that if you're careful... but it is a possibility if you aren't.
That being said, I prefer the plastic over the cloth... And, I've made up 20 of the plastic belts for those who would be interested. I still can make up a few more later if need be, but I'm not even sure I'll find a home for these.

That Robin looks 100% better! Great job. I'd love to get one of those types of belts.
