Got mine today. Pretty cool. I got the 2 dvd special. 1st dvd had the look at the upcoming Red Hood, Spectre short, and trailers. The 2nd dvd has 2 bonus JLU episodes a docu about the DCU. Haven't watched the 2nd dvd yet. The Spectre short, imho, is worth the cost of the set alone. Huge Spectre fan and never expected to see him animated.

Ohh, this has the Spectre cartoon. Cool. Be great to see more stuff like that.

I was really pleasantly surprised by Next Avengers. It was great for what it was as a "What If" scenario. It was certainly better than the second Ultimate Avengers.

Crisis on Two Earths was great! James Woods and Gina Torres were brilliant as Owlman and Superwoman.

I was just reading about how this storyline was originally supposed to be a direct DVD movie that bridged the Justice League and JL Unlimited tv shows (explaining the satellite and increased roster). I think in this instance, it turned out to be much stronger as it's own thing.

LOVED all the cameos, including JL Detroit members and such a big part for Deathstroke and Rose/Ravager! Nice that they gave a more classic looking Aquaman a role in this as well!

I think this is the strongest DC DTV since New Frontier. Very smart, well thought out, acted, and executed. You have to know who the characters are though, because they give you absolutely nothing to go by. I don't think they ever even say Green Lantern's name! And the 2nd stringers are definitely not named. But most folks that will buy these know who these guys are, or know enough of them to get by.

This did have more of the feel of the JL/JLU series than the other DTVs. It explains the core line-up, which would be the core seven minus Hawgirl (who at that point was considered a traitor).

The Spectre toon was great. Definitely nailed the old creepy ways he used to make people pay. Loved the worn, faded, film-grain look. I would like to see this as a series on Adult Swim!

I highly recommend this DTV to any DC fan. My 8-year old son watched it with me. The Spectre short was a little viloent, but never really distasteful. But your mileage may vary.

Loved the Spectre toon. The lighting, film grain, soundtrack everything took me right back to 1968-73. it really evoked Dirty Harry and other films of that period as well as the classic Fliesher/Aparo Spectre series from Adventure Comics.

Chris is right. It would make an excellent addition to adult swim done just that way, or possibly since the Specter has been around since 1940, the stories could be set in any time period with the production taking on that feel of that period.

I know it wouldn't sell, on it's own, but a Spectre, Phantom Stranger, Deadman, Dr. Fate cartoon would be cool for Halloween. Throw in Batman to make it marketable.

I picked up the Blu-ray today but probably won't have a chance to watch it til the weekend. Best Buy has it for $19.99, and it comes with an Owl Man figure.

I watched it with my kids and enjoyed it way more than I thought. Torun (sp?) was one of the best kid-hero characters I've ever run across!

Damn ...
I wasn't thinking. :ugh_y:

James Woods as OwlMan was Fantastic ! :cool_y:

I hated Batman's Voice ..., Sign Kevin to ALL Batman Voice-Over's Now !

UltraMan Sounded like an Idiot... I disliked His Thick Accent.

The Over All Story was Pretty Good ... I enjoyed it.

Not Sure Why Jordan can Have his Comicbook Suit in this Flick,.. but yet it didn't work for the GL Toon ?. :sarky:

Death Stroke the Terminator as President ! ... That's more out there than Luthor ! ...., Wait That Happened TOO ! :smiley1:

Nice script on How WonderWoman got her Invisible Jet. :wink_y:

& The Bad Shazam! Family was Neat.

Don't forget About THE Aquman Sighting TOO ! Maybe the Most Unbelievable issue about the Flick.

I liked it .
DC Animated Movies Rock. :cool_y:

Darn they got me, I preordered the 2 disc fearing the Spectre short would be on the 2nd disc only. I have all of JL/JLU so unless they put new commentary on them nothing new there for me (I assume they are the Justice Lords ones)

disc 1 is the only one worth it that has the film, red hood promo (with alot of Winnick) and the spectre short (which has a very 80's anime vampire hunter d feel or Professional to it)

disc 2 is 2 uncommented episodes of JL (the justice lords story) and feturette about the modern era crisis stories (basically a 20 minute dc exec self love session for spiking sales BLECH)

both feature and short were very cool

Apparently the Red Hood DVD SE will come with a 3 3/4 articulated Red Hood action figure. I kind of wish they had done that with Owlman.

I bought the 2 disc set, and what can I say? I love it!! Every bit of it!!!

Disc 1 has the movie and I enjoyed it from start to finish. Although this was rewritten from the story intended for the Justice League animated series, I say the spirit of the animated series still creeeped in at some points.

BATMAN: Billy Baldwin was fine as Batman, no Kevin Conroy by any means, but if anything, he sounds like Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne (Not Batman). So, it's a matter of pitch and octave as far as Batman's voice goes. True, no one can compare to Kevin Conroy, and as bad as I would have loved to have heard Kevin in this movie, I can understand why they will recast Batman in the future. He can't be in every version of Batman, even though he is the fans' top choice, including mine.

SUPERMAN: Mark Harmon did a fairly good job as Superman. Not much I can say beyond that.

SUPER WOMAN: Gina Torres was awesome as Vixen in JLU, but she really rocked here in this movie in terms of the sexy, super powerful bad girl.

OWLMAN: I'm amazed that someone like James Woods would come aboard and do a voice for an animated DC Comics movie. If anything, Owlman has to be the best villain of the bunch.

ULTRAMAN: I actually got a kick out of Ultraman sounding like an Italian mobster. It made me feel like the Sopranos went animated, especially with the Crime Syndicate being like a super mob with "Made Men" and the villains under them.

JOHNNY QUICK: Hearing him being Austrailian took me by surprise.

THE FLASH AND J'ONN J'ONZZ: Josh Keaton and whoever voiced over J'onn did their own things, but they still sounded similar to Carl Lumbly and Michael Rosenbaum. The spirit of the show strikes here.

WONDER WOMAN: Vanessa Marshall did a great job as Wonder Woman. I understand she almost got the role for the animated series. She ranks right up there with Susan Eisenberg and Kerri Russell.

GREEN LANTERN: I understand that Nolan North was the guy who voiced over both sides of the coin here. I have yet to hear a voice over for Hal Jordan's Green Lantern who sounded authentic enough to remember. So far, the voices from "The Batman" season five, Justice League: The New Frontier, and now Crisis on Two Earths, none of these guys sound memorable enough as Hal Jordan and I have nothing to say regarding Power Ring.

LEX LUTHOR: Although Chris Noth did a great job as the other world Lex, the look of the character, especially in the face, the eyes, and especially the lips, I could still hear the voice of Clancy Brown in my mind. The spirit of the JLU series strikes again.

Loved the cameo of Aquaman. I'll say this much. In his appearance, nobody will be telling him to "go talk to some fish!"

I enjoyed the cameos of not only Aquaman, but also Black Canary, Black Lightning, and a Firestorm I am not familiar with. It's obviously not Ronald Raymond, so I don't know who this guy is.

The evil versions of the Shazam family, the Detroit Leaguers, and Outsiders made this movie awesome.

Loved the music and even bought the soundtrack.

The voice of President Slade Wilson struck me as odd. As Deathstroke, he looks like he would sound more menacing than he was voiced over by Bruce Davison. I imagined Slade would sound like actor Tim Thomerson.

The Spectre short was definitely well worth the purchase of the 2 disc set. Gary Cole did an outstanding job as Jim Corrigan and I loved how his voice sounded when he became the Spectre. And my adolescent crush, Alyssa Milano did an excellent job as well.

The feature for Batman: Under the Red Hood looks promising.

Disc 2 only had a feature about the modern day DCU. But I enjoyed it and learned about what motivated and inspired today's comic artists.

All in all, I am happy with this purchase and have yet to see if the next one will be better.

Cheers.

Must be selling well, Wal-Mart only had a copy of the 1 disc one. Passed as it doesn't mention the Spectre short on the box and would not be happy if its not on there.

I had totally forogotten about this, but picked up the one disc (all that was left) at best buy last night. Great movie. The evil Shazam family was classic. Surprising to me was how weak Batman was made to look. In every other modern animated incarnation Batman can pretty much handle anything. Here, he sepnds most of the movie catching a beating.

We watched it last night, and loved it. (The Spectre short made my son queasy, though!) And I do agree about Batman - he won in the end, but sure did take a beating!

Rented it on Pay Per View last night, it kicked butt.

A good well paced story with tons of fun nods. The evil marvel family dressed like "Miracleman" was delicious, as were about 200 other great insider pieces. I'd say this is my favourite now.

It always takes me a while to get used to other voices coming out of Luthor, Superman and Batman but that always happens and I got over it. Loved Woods and Torres, they're so distinct and well cast.

Spectre short was awesome

Red Hood preview makes me want it out in the store now... I can only hope they do the Judas Contract movie that's been rumored

I loved it!!!
A far catch from the original comic book set up. I love how they the bad guys set up like a mafia with the "made men". I also liked the idea how they didn't say Earth 1 or Earth 3 or whatever...
The touching Martian Manhunter and the President's daughter...cute.

Yes, I agree Riffster. Batman got the **** kicked out of him by several people. Broken ribs, whatever. If this was configured in our old roll playing standards/stats...the Bat would for sure be one busted up dude.

It is also nice seeing my boy Hal Jordan as thee "Green Lantern". Not that I don't enjoy John Stewart but Hal Jordan is my favorite.

I'm not going to say anymore to spoil or **** anyone off. I usually hate cartoon movies but this one was pretty dang good. 4 out of 5 stars.
Why? (Batman's voice wasn't menacing enough for me.) :rotfl:

Major bummer...we got to see a parallel version of Oliver Queen called "The Archer" but no Green Arrow in the movie. Sad. Sad. How cold you forget the Green Arrow? :smiley1:
EMCE didn't forget. Did they ?

Both times Batman fought Super Powered beings, it was established early on Owl Man was wearing some sort of Exo Skeleton as he stood toe to toe with Wonder Woman. I found Batman's beatings somewhat understandable.

I would definitely say Batman got the **** kicked out of him. The whole thing was pretty amazing. He must have spent lots of karma to save his *** for the final battle.

I watched the Red Hood preview last night. I hate to say it,...but I'm excited for this. Maybe because this sort of thing lends itself to a one-off story, not altering continuity in the comics.

I picked up the Bluray and watched it yesterday. I really liked it. Also like that one of the bonus features is the Aquaman pilot. I did not even know about that when I picked it up. been wanting a copy of that.
