I was getting "too old for toys" as micronauts were launched, so I never really got into them as much.

Well, my main memory is when I was busted for stealing them!

That's right you own Museum Correspondent has a jaded past. The cool thing about micronauts was that you could steal them piece by piece. That interchangeable parts thing worked both ways! Well, my older brother and I pocketed a few parts and started our casual walk to the door when - WAM! The guy in the trench snagged us and took us to the back room.

He threatened to call the police and have us taken away. BIG DEAL. http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/shades2.gif

But then he said he would call my ma! Well, even crying like a baby couldn't prevent that. http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/cry.gif I was banished to my room for 2 weeks and banned from the Clover Dept store!

Didn't you consider turning round and saying it was only a very small crime? Or were you charged with stealing body parts? Why did you steal them ,did they cost an arm and a leg?........and i'm spent.......sorry couldn't help it....very cute story though

your not a true TOY collector until you have stolen for your cause. Lord knows when SW was re-released in the 90's there wasn't an outside banner at Taco Bell or KFC that i didn't get in one city or another.

I do remember chasing an old lady round a shop once because she picked up the last Boba Fett watch ....my wife had to pull me away 'cos ahe said I was intimidating her. Huh ...what would an old lady want with a Boba Fett watch ...I don't care if she had grandkids...they weren't there back in the day man....they'd just get the watch out and ..I don't know ...wear it or something stupid like that....I mean Jeeze

In my neck of the woods (Flint, MI) in the 70's I bought most of my toys at Meijers, a regional grocery/department store. Back then they had an aisle where opened or returned toys were sold for low clearance prices. So every week grocery shopping with my mom I would go to the toy dept. and open and destroy the package of the toys I wanted. Then the next week I would convince her to buy the unbelievably low priced item from the bargain bin. It didn't always work... sometimes someone would get there before me and snatch up my vandalized bargain, but that is how I got a lot of my megos (including a full set of Kiss figs) a few 12" star wars guy, Big Jim etc...

Well, OK. It involves the one and ONLY experience I had with a removeable cowl Batman when I was a kid.

We went over to my cousin Raymond's house and you know how much I hated going over there. Aside from the fact that I still don't exactly know how we're related, his house was always dirty and smelled a bit off. Not a pungent, nauseting odor, just one of those odors you can't quite identify but is just offensive enough to bother you.

Well, anyway I brought Mego Batman and Robin with me to keep me company and was keeping to myself when I noticed Raymond's toys. Nothing special, but I recognized that tell-tale blue cape from beneath the pile. I was stunned to see when I yanked him out that this Batman had no mask!!! His face, plain as day. I didn't quite understand until I noticed what else had come from beneath that pile- his blue cowl.

Now I didn't even know RC Batman existed. As far as memory served, Bats had a painted cowl when Mego products entered my life. RM Robin wouldn't become a reality until about 7 years ago. What was I to do? I'm only human, succeptable to all our human weaknesses and failures.

Later, at home, I did manage to hide him beneath the sheets when my mom came into my bedroom. But I knew this was one of those I-know-the-answer-but-I'm-asking-anyway questions when she told me about my cousin's doll disappearing. The cost of lying would have been way too great.

You know the drill from there- return the figure, humiliatingly apologize and live in want :embarassed:

He wasn't even really my cousin!

Thats a Really good story. I could only imagine how tempting that would have been. I remember when I first got a hold of an RC Batman. He's an Amazing MEGO. I would have done the same thing LOL :beaming1:

You should have tried swapping your Batman for his RC one. He might not have noticed for awhile and bought you more time. :)
