EMCE Gorn question

Why do you think the EMCE Gorn is green, instead of brown? I mean, it's cool and I like it, but why green? "Arena" is one of my top 5 fave Trek episodes, and I'll probably pick this figure up eventually, but on my TV anyway, the character is brown. Anyone know what happened?

He looks more brown than green to me. Don't know what to tell you... Let's put it this way for the sake of argument; The bright green in the toy certainly does not match the creature, even closely. I guess that's more the point I was making.

I see what you're saying. You are right, Sandy. Even on the pic that PMWASSON posted you can see the brownish/copperish hue on the skin.

Also, the cool colors (greens and blues) are pushed in that photo, so the green becomes more dominant and apparent on the creature. You can tell by looking at the sky... I'm not saying the guy who posted it, is the person who enhanced the picture, but that isn't the true color value and hue of that photograph.

Well, at least that may explain why MEGO went with brown for their Gorn.

Brown was never an option for us because every time I watched that
episode, I saw a green gator monster.

The green we used for the head was based on MEGO's green body

He always looked more green than brown to me, though I agree the color of the figure is far greener than the screenshot.

If he's brown, what color are the gauntlets? Purple? He looks like an olive/pea green to me with bronze highlights. My guess is Mego made him brown so they could stick him in leftover Klingon outfits and cut costs. As far as I know Mego made the only brown interpretation; all the other figures and artwork I've seen depict him in green.

He IS green. I own Star Trek:TOS on Bluray...and they did an EXCELLENT job on the color restoration.

I see what you mean.. The parts where the sun's not shining directly on it (looking at the picture posted..) looks brownish.

It's actually like my olive dress pants at home.. In sunlight, it's brown; under indoor light, it's olive.

PS: JUST saw the full figure pic above. Nope, he's definitely green. Or actually, dark gray on B&W TVs, as I first saw him 40yrs ago. (..couldnt' resist..)
