Check out what I did with a 3D cad program:

Now to make the rest of the Micropolis pieces.

Very neat! Are you planning a virtual Micropolis?

Well, I was planning to re-create the Micropolis Prototype playsets seen in the mini-catalogs on a laser cutter with help from some members of the Micropolis Embassy. You can read about it and see pictures here: Prototype Micro City Set (Laser Mego) (http://www.lasermego.com/in-progress/prototype-micro-city-set) (since its a blog, its best to start and the end and read to the front).

But my access to the laser cutter is in limbo at the moment, so this project got put on hold. Now I'm looking into 3D rapid prototyping machines and was thinking about making new Micropolis pieces that are compatible with the existing sets. This is just the first drawing down that path.

Are you going to make these pieces to sell to members here? What will you be charging if you do?

I am interested in making a new set to sell. However, its too early to say if I'll have anything to sell or what it would cost. I'll be sure to post my progress.

Wow - I'm really disappointed to learn you lost access to the cutter. I was really looking forward to buying one of your sets!

Ah...I too was bummed you weren't able to get them made, PM.

I had considered trying to make a set of my own too, but I'm terrible with powertools and such...LOL!

Hmmmm....

That would have been awesome; especially if you started making new parts. I was thinking of doing the same, but in 8" scale.
