How can I turn down a wonderful 12 hour drive through the scenic nothingness of PA with an occasionally dozing off John Michaels? The chance to see the sunrise out the window of the Mego Suite and the 12 foot crawl to my bed for a couple of hours of blissful slumber. Dinner at Hoss' Steakhouse. I'll be there Thursday afternoon as usual.

It really depends, there have been alot of things going on around here that are about to drive me crazy, lack of funds is one of them. Is there any word about the deal with the hotel this year? I certainly hope I can make it but I just don't know.

I'm in. There were two big obstacles which have been overcome. The first was, with all the issues my car was having I simply didn't trust it to take the drive. After 188,000 miles I finally decided to give up on it and now have new (welll new to me), issue free car I can't wait to break in. The other was a last minute surprise from work. Uusally we'd be doing one of our inventories the first week in June. Well, they had the same idea as MM and an E-mail was sent saying itwas June 11 this year! So I basically begged an pleaded for it to moved up or down a week, noting how many times I've come through in a pinch for the comapny and I didn't want to miss this. Our operations manager and VP came through for me as a follow up E-mail was sent today indicating the inventory was moved to June 18th. Of course I immediately put in for the vacation time and booked my room. I'll be there Thursday and it can't come soon enough now.

Anyone that wants to show up. We're usually in the suite by 7:30pm and close it up around 3 or 4am. If you show up early enough we go to eat at the steak house across the street. Only place in WV that will accept us all:silly:. Usually there's a group of us in the lobby.

I will be making the trip (a huge 2 hour drive - it's not like i live in belgium or australia after all). I will get there as early as I can on Friday to set up my table. I will again stay at my friend's house nearby. I have a race Sunday morning so I will have to skip the Dinner Saturday.

If I remember correctly....most that fly in go into Pittsburgh and then drive in to Wheeling. Don't know how long the drive in is though. I figure about an hour or so. I know from mine and my bro's perspective it's about that long when you cross in from Pennsylvania to when you get to Wheeling. I love that little stretch of the highway that goes from 65 to 75 MPH and then back down again to 65 :smiley1: Talk about your speed traps :smiley1::smiley1::smiley1:

nah, no table (not practical flying, I suspect)...but my son will be at the tables buying!

I've been to every MegoMeet and have been able to fill a couple of tables with a strategically packed checked bag. Of course my stuff was mostly loose. If I make it this year, I suspect this will be my first year not getting a table.

I make the 14 hour drive. I did think about it, but then with my son with me, he is not going to want to stand behind a table all day... he is there to look at megos, buy megos, learn about megos, so maybe next year I will buy a table if he doesn't go with me...
but I have accumulated a pool table of dupes I have to sell eventually!

Yes. This question is raised annually. The Toy Museum in WV is ideal for the meet (cost, hospitality, location) and there are people who took the initiative to do it. Others are encouraged to set up other gatherings in other locations.

I am trying to get an area reserved at New York Comicon in October for Mego
Communion - or Mego Com for short.

You westies should talk to the people at San Diego Comicon - they will probably
let you organize an area to gather - like they do with the Magic or cosplay fans.

I'll be here again I think. We need to find a better restaurant this year though. Maybe there's a Hoss's in Times Square. :grin:

There is a place like Hoss' - it's called Tad's Steaks - it's on 34th St.
and 7th Ave. across from Penn Station and Macy's.

I think only tourists eat there because I don't know of anyone who
actually ate there.

We think it might be a slaughterhouse inside, serving the old tourists
to the new tourists - along with a baked potato.

I'll be here again I think. We need to find a better restaurant this year though. Maybe there's a Hoss's in Times Square. :grin:

Well after much effort in trying to get an earlier flight, due to a few storms in the DFW area today, all flights into Pit are booked up . . . so it looks like I won't be rolling into Wheeling until 7pm or so . . . will I miss the HOSS' steak dinner extravaganza?
