PlaidStallions First Sponsor : Odeon Toys

I'm very pleased/totally surprised to have my first corporate sponsor here at PlaidStallions, the good people at Odeon Toys. It's an odd story how this came to be and goes to show you how fate works in funny ways.

A couple of months back I won this catalog on Ebay, I'd never heard of Odeon before but the description listed a lot of great mid 1970s licenses like Planet of the Apes so I went ahead and won it.

Immediately after I receieved an email from a man named Victor Machismo Jr, who claimed to not only to be the son of the President of Odeon but the current president of the reformed Odeon toy company that would be putting out product in 2010!

So I urge you all to welcome our awesome new sponsor and visit their new website, where you can read about the rise and fall and eventual rise of this amazing company, see all the amazing products they had in their 1975 catalog and check back this Friday to see their 2010 product offerings.

They's good people, those Machismos. Best motto in the business, too.

        I remember these guys!

They're the ones that would have the late night infomercials with the billions of screaming kids in the stationwagon. The Dad gets a flat in the wagon and it is raining and the Odeon sales rep happens to pass by. He utters that famous line "This'll shut 'em up." and sells the dad some of those games, then drives off. I think the scene ended with the Dad humming the Odeon theme music while he finished changing the tire by himself out in the rain.

edit: I just remembered the theme

Kids got you in a fuss?
Wife tells you you're a wuss?
C'mon be like one of us!
        This'll shut 'em up!
        ODEON

something like that. I might have got the third line wrong, but it has been awhile.

Congrats Bri! With all the cool work you've done on it over the years, it was just a matter of time before the site gained a sponsor

I think I had that POTA bottle cutter. I used to threaten my sister with the sharp edges when she wanted to watch General Hospital instead of the Monkees.

Gosh, I really hope Vic, Jr. can score the license for "Jersey Shore." The figures can all come with hair care product accessories.

I think the Chesty Morgan doll would probably be a good seller now.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
