Has Sparky ever showed up in post-Crisis continuity? I'm surprised the JSA hasn't snapped him and dubbed him Scarab or something similar. He could even wear Dan Garret's old chain mail costume!

To my knowledge, DC hasn't used much of the Dan Garrett Blue Beetle chronology....probably has something to do with that incarnation of the Beetle being owned by different companies over the years. The Ted Kord version is based primarily off the Charlton version that DC purchased.

I read somewhere that Sparky was scheduled to appear in volume two of Project Superpowers from Dynamite Entertainment, as part of a team of kid heroes and sidekicks called the Inheritors. Blue Beetle is known in the series by his nickname of Big Blue.

I think DC only legally owns the Charlton version of Dan Garret (i.e. the scarab, the costume with the goggles, etc). The only time I can recall them showing the true Golden Age Blue Beetle was that first Skybox DC card set in the early 90s.

Right, with the exception of that Skybox card, it's always been the Charlton "Kaji Dha!" version of Dan Garrett that DC used....starting with a dual origin story for him and Ted Kord:
