View Full Version : Our 20th Anniversary!

My wife and I have just celebrated our 20th anniversary.
And we're still happy to be together, too!:wink_y:
I'd like to send my warm wishes to everyone (family, friends), who said "it won't last", most of whom are now divorced or split up.:silly:
The odds were against us.
Gerda was raised strictly Catholic. When she asked for a night light, she got a big red neon cross. Really! When she wanted a doll, her mother gave her one dressed as a nun. To give you an idea, she had never heard of Captain Kirk or Luke Skywalker.
Then comes along this guy, ten years younger, an atheist, lover of Hellraiser and Freddy Krueger. You can imagine what her Mom thought of me. Especially when we announced our marriage. Not a church wedding. Because we both didn't want one.
But we're still going strong, and Gerda now watches Star Trek and Star Wars. She loves Ewoks. Well, nobody's perfect. :wink_y:
Here's to love, in whatever shape or form.

My wife and I hit 20 this June. We are considering renewing our vows as we have a ton of friends that we didn't know back when we got married and it would be cool to have another and have them all at it.

I wouldn't want to be struck by lightning....:wink_y:
Seriously, I have the utmost respect for all religions that do not impose themselves on me. And it would have been hypocritical of me to have wedding vows in church.
As for embracing her lifestyle: I have a Star Trek teddy bear. Does that count?
I draw the line at watching The Nanny, though....

Thanks for all the kind wishes, everyone.
My wife and I intend on having our vows renewed. When we were last in the US, we had hoped for an authentic native American ceremony, but boy, that was expensive. The Native American philosophy is one we can relate to. Respect for all that lives, including plants and animals, the world around us.
Unfortunately, even though I regret what was done to Native Americans with all my heart, my wallet just couldn't measure up to the price....
And no, Mike in a Halloween Apache get-up wouldn't be the same, thank you very much....:silly:
