    Some Spirit movie casting

I guess Frank Miller's Will Eisner's The Spirit movie has begun casting:

    The Spirit: Gabriel Macht http://entimg.msn.com/i/wi/04/12/13/91791/4047333.jpg

    The Octopus: Samuel L. Jackson
    Silken Floss: Scarlett Johansson
    Sand Saref: Eva Mendes

I'm not so sold on SLJ as The Octopus (or Miller as the director)...and I hope P'Gell shows up...she's my favorite of the Eisner femme fatales.

Not thrilled at all with Miller. Sam Jackson as the Octopus is fine. I wonder if they will never show his face like in the comics.

That was the cool thing about the Octopus...they never showed his face, you never found out who he was....all you ever saw were his gloved hands.

Miller deflates my hopes for this movie being the Spirit that I know and love.

^^^ I have a bad feeling it will be Sin City with a domino mask.

If this was Miller from years ago when he first did Daredevil and created Elektra I'd be more excited...he appeared to be genuinely influenced by Eisner at the time and I'm sure he would have been more faithful to the original source material...but after his more recent hack jobs with iconic characters like Batman (i.e. Dark Knight Returns and All-Star) I'm very skeptical.

But to Mr. Miller I issue this challenge: "Prove me wrong, Frank...prove me wrong".

The official title is Will Eisner's Spirit, I hope Miller is at least reading some original stuff for reference.

a great cast, but i dont think Miller could direct traffic with a truck full of orange cones and a whistle.

                "I'm the G**damn Spirit, kid."

Actually, that'd be the last thing I'd want. Sin City-style is fine for Sin City, but not for the Spirit. It doesn't warrant that level of sex and violence.

Unfortunately given his track record of late of not respecting the source material like others have pointed out (DK2 and All-Star Bats again), that may be just what we get.

I'm not optimistic about this movie.

I think an animated movie in the Eisner style and "spirit" would be a better
                          choice.
