"Batman" starring Adam West and Burt Ward debuted 44 years ago, January 12, 1966....maybe we can shoot for the 45th Anniversary for a legit DVD set. :muh:

Happy Anniversary Caped Crusaders! It sucks that it's not available for the masses. One day.... :costumed-smiley-009

It's a shame since all the cast is dying off so nobody will be left for any DVD extras like interviews or commentaries. Hopefully someone thought ahead and arranged at least some commentaries. I know they can use old interviews but it just feels different.

It's already too late for the owners to make the best money they could have by it's release and as the years go by it will get worse and worse for them.
90% of the world owns boots of the series anyway.
In not very long of a time the 60's series will be regarded by most fans as we regard the 40's serial.
A big missed opportunity that will never happen again.

When someone doesn't renew their copyrights. There are quite a few shows that went to public domain which is why you can buy dvd's for $1. I believe Underdog is one of them.

This really is just plain befuddling that the parties involved couldn't get past their differences about how much money they should get to see their way to make ANY money.
The real market for this show is just getting older and older and, hence, bogged with other expenses. The fans of this show are now having kids, buying homes, etc. The release would still sell well, but I believe its maximum potential would have been released with the past 5-10 years.
BTW, I have 3 different sets of this show.

I have a 10 disc set of bootlegs from TVLand. They are pretty bad. The premiere show features a scene where the "Friendship Cake" blows up and the screen just becomes a chaotic mass of pixelated colour. Pretty bad.
I read in another thread that the 30 disc set is the best. Who has that set, and where did they get it?

My turn to answer teh question " Why do they have thier underwear on outside of thier pants? Wheres Robins pants?"

i was just thinking about this the other day, i hope that most of the cast doesn't die before it get released. the local detroit channel (same one that carried ecw in the 90's) is now airing batman tho.

IMO, there's a few shows that will NEVER get released on DVD - or at least in the United States ...
The Beatles Let it Be
Batman 1966 TV series
Doctor Who 1996 TV movie
Six Million Dollar Man
Bionic Woman
to name a few.

Shawn recorded the TVLand bootlegs for me a couple of years ago. The guy he bought them from said they were complete, but I'm missing about 8 eps. Sometimes I can find them on YouTube though.

Everyone should do themselves a favor and trade up their TV Land sets for one of the master sets....complete with "Place Commercial Here" bumpers and "Coming Next Week Villains".
