Green odd chair ???

I was looking at one of the star treck adds on the site and it has the same wierd chair as on the emerald city box does anyone know what it is???

I've noticed that weird chair in the Star Trek ad, but never noticed that it seems to be the same chair in the photo on the Emerald City box (so you are saying that a chair like that isn't included in the set? Sorry, I'm not an Oz collector. :) ). At any rate, good eye!

The Throne In the emerald city has 2 parts
the top looks like a green char w/ arms and the Oz logo on it
the bottom is for yellow legs connected together

Good eye Ozcollector. I always thought the chair on the Emerald City box was a prototype used just for the photoshoot for the box art. Obviously, the chair made its way around to other photoshoots as well. I wonder if it was ever actually produced with any set.

i never noticed that before. i have had a few oz sets. never sen the chair . must be a proto chair. would like to find one. although it loks kind of like a barbie chair. mike

Thats neat Sean that you noticed .No lie I noticed it about 3 days ago when I was looking at a boxed Emerald city I bought.Glad you brought it up on here I just passed it of as a mistake but maybe we will find out something about it.Its funny you and I had noticed that only a day or to apart. Could this be with both of the Gift sets the remain unknown. that could be the reason nobody has it????????

A good eye indeed ozcollector...so how come it didn't notice the length of the yellow brick road stated on the box so you would know whether or not yours was complete hmmm? :wink_y:

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember us talking about that chair about a year ago or so. The consensus was it was most likely a prototype chair

It was discussed in the Enterprise prototype article. Whether the chair was an intended prototype for Star Trek or was an older Mego item they were using as a stand in I don't know. I assume the Enterprise and Emerald City would have been in design at the same time.

we must also reside in the fact that the chair might not be a mego product.
but a item purchased .many companies purchase toys by other manufactures, to see the product for themselves.
mego did with G.I.Joe and got Fighting Yank and a big law suit.
Just looking at the Photo , Its a Bad test shot.
Phaser is on backwards, the white sticker on the arm rest is peeling up. and the navagation station looks like card borad Mock up.and Kirk looks like he had to much Solarin brandy.
