Was this Bendis' plan all along? To slowly turn the Avengers line-up into Defenders?

I really liked the Erik Larsen version from a few years back. Not sure what the New Avengers line up is now.
Hmmmm....
Not what I was expecting. My ideas:
-promise to return their kids
-the triumphant return of "Elf with a gun"
-a 34 part tie in series with every other Marvel comic
-holo-covers

Bendis needs to be removed from the Avengers franchise IMO.....he's been on it waaay too long now and it's getting boring.

The latest issue has Strange, Hellcat, Valkyrie, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Doctor Voodoo. Seems like a Defenders line-up to me!

How do you get people to buy a Defenders comic? That's easy. Have Valkyrie and Hellcat mud wrestling on the cover.

If they brought back the Defenders I'd like to see Nighthawk, Hellcat, Valkyrie, The Hulk, Son of Satan, Silver Surfer be core members with Dr. Strange advising (he DOESN'T belong in the Avengers IMO....neither do Spidey or Wolverine). Have them take on the supernatural and cosmic weirdness. And push the guest-star thing in short story arcs...because it's a "non-team", have a rotating series of add-on players like Sub-Mariner or Gargoyle or Ghost Rider. Sort of like Mission:Impossible where Jim Phelps ALWAYS picked the same team from his dossier with the exception of the occasional guest-star.

Yes because he has the strength of TWO men at night! Sorry every time someone brings up Nighthawk I have to get that in.
