How could I make Custom poles for the Mego Spider-car?

Does anyone know how I can make Custom poles for the 8" scale, Mego Spider-car?

Or do any of you awesome customizers make/sell them?

    thanks

Wooden dowels work great. I got a whole package at Michael's. They work like a charm!

You can also get plastic rods at model train/hobby shops, and architectural supply shops (they use it for making models and miniatures)

I found a set of red plastic clothes hangers at Wal-Mart that were perfect. Paint will never really look like plastic.

Yeah, I'd do what Mike said and listen to me.

I'd do what Ant said and listen to Mike and listen to Ant. Then I'd take two aspirin.

Thanks for the ideas and tips. I never even heard of Wooden dowels before Austin suggested them. I will look for the plastic hangers.

Does anyone know how long the poles should be?

                    thanks again!

Hulk is right about Mike being right about Ant being right.

I vaguely remember this discussion a few years back and Ant had the same suggestion then. The red hangers were the best way to go.

                            z3zep,

In the event you can't find the red plastic hangers and have to use wooden dowels, here is a pic of my comic action SpiderCar so you can see how they look. I painted the wooden dowels in red acrylics and then applied spray-on lacquer.

Thanks so much for everyone that responded. I really appreciate everyones advice, especially since I hardly ever do custom work. I bought both dowels and red hangers. The red hangers that I got are a little too fat, but I am going to shave down the ends to make them fit. I am also going to try to paint the dowels to see which look better.
