StarWarsShop.com - 8 Real Action Darth Vader Metal Figure (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_sku=SWTYRADDV&rid=CJADPL00001)
It sure looks like an official Star Wars figure in Mego scale...

True, but it's not a custom. And with EMCE, CTVT, Cast-a-Way and soon Mattel and ZICA I'm not used to paying that much for an 8" figure :wink_y:

Is this the only figure in the line or are there others, like Luke, Obi-Wan, Han Solo, Stormtroopers, ...?

The made a Boba Fett version as well.
8 Boba Fett Metal Figures - Daily Star Wars News, Reviews & Discussions Source (http://www.jediinsider.com/index.php?catid=8&itemid=10424)
Both are from Tomy Japan.
I wanted to get the Boba Fett but as you can see, it's like the Medicom dolls. Not into that. Prefer the Mego style figures.

Not familiar with Medicom dolls... what is the difference between them and Mego?
The product description seems to indicate these are metal, but given these particular figures, metal seems to work. Guess what I'm really wondering is if they are Mego-like enough that I could blend these guys in with the rest of my collection...

The Medicom figure(s) are Metal. So they are actually real Heavy. You would be surprised by the Weight of these... Everything, and I mean Everything is apart in a Box, and you assemble the figure. These things Have like 30 points of Articulation, and are so Damn Detailed you think they stepped off of the Set of the Movie.

I own Both Vader, and Fett. Yes they do fit in Nicely with the 8 inch formate. Vader might be just a Smigged taller, I never built him yet to see.
These figures are Awesome.I feel anyone Who bought them would not be dissapointed. These are some fine figures, I had wished they made somemore.

The bodies are metal, everything else is fabric and PVC. I wonder if you could dress a Mego with those parts

Darth Vader should be a smidge taller anyway, so he would fit in.

Thanks for all the info, guys.
Sounds like my biggest problem will be the price. Guess I just need to convince Santa that I've been especially good this year.

The bodies are like the Ohtsuka Kikaku dolls. No hands or feet articulated body. You add the clothes and the accessories which in this case they are metal.
Ohtsuka dolls are really great and are 8". They give Medicom a run for their money.

Great stuff, but a bit too expensive.
I'm sure we'll get an affordable 8-9 inch Vader somewhere along the line.

I doubt I could make a cool custom of vader for much less than that. I mean by the time you scrounge up, or mold all the detailed parts, and add in the head, body, and materials, you'd have spent about as much.
I do have an urge to pillage both Fett and Vader for customs parts. I suppose someone could "boost" the accessories and then mold them, make a Megocustom kit and make up their money.

Very cool and not too expensive as far as figs go.
Average custom fig is about $135ish these are $99 so not to bad.
A little too much for me though...LOL
I keep it to around $20.

But a custom is a unique creation that took time and effort from the customizer, Vader is a factory produced product, not exactly the same

The Prices for these musta went up... I only paid 99 for each of mine.
Like in the World of customs..., you get what you basically pay for.., you buy a 20 dollar custom,.. well that's what you bought.
To Me..., these little guys rival what Hot Toys can make, but they are 8inch scale. neat stuff.

They did go and were just $99 early this year. They were in stock, even Fett now have sold out.
I agree you get what you pay for and these two are really amazing and detail oriented. Plus they are metal bodies, that alone is worth the cost. It's like detailed live size but shrunk down to Mego size.
I've been waiting on ebay for a price drop last year but no luck. They only go up in cost and maybe value.

I got Lord Vader for Christmas! (btw... thanks, Doc, for putting in the good word with St. Nick )
I need to post pics for you guys... but he is exactly Mego scale. I have been having fun playing out the Star Wars / Star Trek crossover than I *so* wanted as a little kid.
Also, since someone asked about it... If you wanted to do so, it would be very easy to cannibalize him to build a figure on a more Mego-ish body... but honestly, the metal body is way cool, and while it maybe errs more on the side of "display" rather than "play", it displays beautifully.
Anyhow, just wanted to share my excitement! And thanks again for all the info from everybody about this figure... without your input, it probably never would have made my Christmas list in the first place.
