A Custom Castle Idea

Here's a quick drawing of a castle idea I had. I wanted a decent castle to display my knights/Robin Hood figures with. My plan was to use foamcore or to actually design rock walls and print them out somehow. And with some minor decal changes to the inside, it would convert from Knight's Castle to Monster Castle!!

I don't have the time to build the thing, but I figured I'd share the idea with the gang in case someone got a wild hair to try it.

You could also walk into a toy store and see if they have one these from Lego, that's what I did :grin:

That's a fantastic pattern for a castle! It'll work quite well, but I don't think you NEED to use foamcore. Foamcore is great, but kind of expensive. You COULD use.... (wait for it).... corrugated cardboard! Run the corrugations up and down, score on the folds and you're good to go.

For a stone pattern, you could print one out and glue it on; or cut out stone shapes from mroe cardboard, glue 'em on and spray the whole thing with that stone texture specle paint. (That's how I did my dungeon.)

That is a nice design, I love castles. This is the one I've made. I've resisted showing anymore Dida stuff until I get confirmation that everything is going to work according to plan (next 2 weeks maybe...) and I'll be able to start selling them. But I can't resist showing this one. I think it's still a work in progress, I have ideas to expand it by adding a tower and adding more details in the artwork, but it's already pretty substantial. The knight statues are based on the round table room in the Knights of the Round table movie that inspired Mego's Knights designs.

these Dida Display Sets may be just the thing I need to finish the inside of my castle. Can you design these backdrops to specific sizes or are they just standard sizes?

They are standard. 10 inches high, 10x10, 10x13 and 10x10 hinged together, 22 inches wide when in the base.

That does look cool, Scott. One guy looks like he's pinned to the wall like Spidey. How did you do that?

He's just hanging onto one of the parapets. They are my favorite part---laminated, not vinyl, but still pretty cool, especially with rivets.

You should enlarge the parapets into practical battlements.

I'm going to try that, but I'm afraid the laminate will get floppy at that height. I wish I could do it with chipboard and vinyl, but the shape is to complicated to do by hand and too expensive to have made. I could probably reinforce the laminate with vinyl backing though.

Ah, I didn't notice the laminate earlier. I thought it was just surface coated like the Apes' Fortress pieces.
