With the stories I've read they should fulfill whatever orders they can, refund money and close up. I don't say that lightly. I just shut down my own website of almost 10 years. I didn't have to ship anything to anyone but my consistency had taken a nosedive and I had to face facts that due to circumstances beyond my control I wasn't going to be able fix things. It hurt like hell to pull the plug. But I knew it was the right thing to do.

Still looking forword to the Captain Action Phantom and Dr. evil Redbeard the pirate. I'm willing to wait...as long as I get them. What is happening ( or not happening ) is scary. I feel bad for you guys who are waiting so long and still not hearing anything or recieving your orders. You would think by now that Dave or Jason would comment just to assure us we will get what we ordered. No doubt they are backlogged with work, but still they should respond to people's concerns. I certainly hope they get things fixed soon.

I'll put it this way, they have great stuff bar none!!!
But delivery is a major problem,Sorry but I rank them up there with the megostore now.
They lost a customer in my wife as she had ordered product for my birthday months in advance and it did not come in on time.Did it eventually come in?yes.
They were gracious enough to add extras to the order!!!
However damage was done she will not order from them again and now,Sadly won't let me either...LOL
So fix the problem boys!!!
I can order again when the messages start to reflect better business practices.
So fix it,you got stuff I want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the problem now after seeing the new video. Cast-A-Way is moving foward but "not" filling orders that are way over due. That is the big problem right now. They can move onto new projects and not send out orders that were paid for a year ago. They need to stop what they are doing and get caught up.

Nov 8, '09, 6:28 PM
I am not defending anyone here and I do understand why everyone's upset, having to wait over a year for an outstanding order is not done, simple as that.
But you were also all complaining about a lack of communication, which I agree is poor business ethics, but now - finally - that DL has at least made an attempt at explaining and excusing themselves for a delay you are still complaining.
I'm not saying you should all hold hands now and sing Kumbaya or anything, but DL took a step forward, complaining about the same old same old isn't gonna do anyone good. Obviously they're reading these posts and they are doing something about it, Jason has PM'ed me that my stuff is on the way.
Again, I don't defend anyone, but let's at least give them a break, they took a step to improve their business ethics let's see where it leads

MEGOMAN
Nov 8, '09, 7:17 PM
Were they not already given a couple of breaks?

Meule
Nov 8, '09, 7:22 PM
Well what do you suggest then? Going on and on about isn't going to help. Like I said, this time at least they took a step forward, after weeks of silence. So, even tho they have indeed been given quite a few breaks, why not wait and see what happens this time. If this turns out to be a bust again then you needn't worry anymore cause they will be out of business for lack of orders. It's all in their hands

Hey, general replies to address specific concerns no longer work for me with this company. Too many people have been burned and ignored. Address the mess you have created before asking for understanding "as you move forward" to collect monies from new preorders. No new product should be shipped until those who have been waiting for months or a year plus have their issues satified 100%. Just because the government operates this way it does not make it ok for regular people to copy the same business model. Perhaps they can apply their experiences at this level of small business to the "Cash For Clunkers Program" the next time it is offered. The power of the consumer is to vote with the almighty buck. That is the only way Castaway will ever get the message. I would love to see them get the message before the lights go out on a great idea and some very nice, high quality products. Maybe then we could all email David about stuff "that Castaway is doing right". I'll be the first in line with my money and the congratulatory emails. Until then...

Their prduct is definately great....not sure what to make of the filling orders issue though....I ordered something early last month and got all of it, with extra in 3 weeks....many on this board are waiting months and months and not getting anything. It just does not make sense....when backlogged you fill the oldest orders first and work your way forward....I'm not complaining that I got my order so fast....I was actually worried I would be waiting a year too, but they have done trmendous damage to their reputation. I do not order from the Megostore anymore because i was tired of waiting months for my orders and having my emails ignored. I understnad these guys run these sites as a side business and they have their lives to live too but if you are behind and still accepting orders then s*&t or get off the pot!!

Toy Talk
Nov 11, '09, 9:24 AM
I know that I am on the outside looking in, but this doesn't appear to be a difficult fix to me. Bear in mind that I have ordered from Dave and Jason several times without difficulty, so this suggestion by no means applies to anything I have ordered.

All of the shipping difficulties seem to be with the same 5-7 people that are looking for any successful communication tool they can find. We all know that Dave had a flooded basement, and some computer problems that caused a loss of data. So rather than to spend months sifting through old paper orders to see what people ordered, why not just take their word for it.

Chalk the trust up to damage control. Ask those 5-7 people what they ordered, and ship it out. I don't believe that any of them are trying to get something they have not already paid for. If the items are not in stock, just refund their money until the items are in active inventory.

A little bit of cleaning house up front could mean tons of extra business down the road. Not only would there be no more complaints in the forum, but the email traffic would likely unclog, and the PR bonuses would go a long way.

Of course these are just my thoughts. I am not a business man, so what do I know?

Well, I am sorry you feel this way... by the way it doesn't block us from taking orders. Not really. When I read other's posts on here who say they've had orders placed since December of 2008 and have gotten nothing, why should I expect my experience will be any different? I admit to hastily filing a claim once I read all the negative posts on here. With Paypal, you have to. If you wait too long to file a claim, and a seller doesn't deliver, you have no recourse. Sorry, but that's just how it is.
I just want my $60 back. When and IF these figures ever show up, I'll pick them up on Ebay, just like I did the Phantom.

I don't know David Lee from the man in the moon, but if he's an honorable guy, I'm sure he'll do the right thing.

I have Ben from Legends Reborn doing a custom Lone Ranger/Silver and Tonto/Scout for me currently. The cards will be from Anthony at Toyroom. As soon as the figures are done I will be sure to post pictures for everyone to see, but seriously--Castaway should produce the Lone Ranger.

However, with a movie coming up the franchising fees would likely be enormous. Too bad, because you know that Dave and Jason would do a great job!

You've made your point now, they know they need to improve on shipping and they've taken steps to do so. At least give 'em a chance before you bury them.
If you're not waiting on any items from them anymore you shouldn't be complaining, leave that to those who are still waiting.

Why doesn't everybody just stop defending them here on this thread?
I mean start another thread about received items or something.Everybody is just adding fuel to the fire here weather it's a good post or a bad one.
let them have this thread to dump on them.
Stop defending them here and start a new one praising them and let this one sink already. It's ten pages long already, over 3000 views.
3/4 of the posts are defending them and thats great but it still puts light on this crapfest.Just my two cents.

It's always amazing how a little fire under one's bottom will produce speedy results.

Look, I'm not trying to ruffle feathers; I don't think it pays to burn any bridges on the forum.

I genuinely like what I've seen of Castaway's products, & I'm thrilled that orders are now going out. I just don't understand the lack of communication about said orders.

Your on my list to contact... it left Kansas City on Saturday. I can only track it to the border with the current USPS postage... From here on out Canucks and other international will have to use UPS.

Dave, don't mean to sound like a broken record, but did you have a time estimate for my delivery? No sign of it as yet.
