To me it seems like 90% of the mego dolls i receive come from a smoking household? What about everyone else?

I've been pretty lucky in that only about 2 or 3 of mine have smelled like smoke. After giving the outfit and figure a good wash I'll put them in a zipper plastic bag with a dryer sheet for a couple of days and they're good as new.

I smoke, but never in the house and my Mego's are in mylar bags :)
But, because I smoke-- my senses aren't that good so I can't tell if a new Mego is smokey--- unless it's yucky yellow stained..
I've had LOTS of stuff smell like smoke...and other stuff. :please_y:
I wash EVERYTHING I get. Period. Then...I feel better about things! LOL!!!

Crap Vin, now I'm paranoid.
Does the GG smell like smoke? I keep my Megos in another room entirely apart from the rest of the house. I never smoke anywhere around my Megos. Also, the air filter is right next to my toy room. The toy room door is always shut.
Jeez, do I need an Ionic Breeze for the toy room??

Most of the time everything I get is fine and I've never bought an item here from someone that smelled like smoke, but one time I got a couple of figures off of ebay and I just about tossed my cookies they stunk soooo bad.

The big problem with a item from a place where people smoke,is TAR which can bond to the fabric outfit and Vinyle head . This can stain the items, or act like a magnet ,and dust and oil (BODY OIL mostly)can kling to it.
i have a Liliput robot from 1939 japan that was in a Merchant marine Bar.
and it stained with Tar smoke bonded to the paint.

I've only gotten two smokey Megos; Mr. Fantastic, and oddly enough, the Human Torch. Did both the Febreeze and dryer sheet trick and eventually I got the smell out. Took some time and work though.

Only twice, but both times it was a boxed item. One was a POTA playset. The drier sheet treatment worked great.

I purchased one smokey-smelling Mego on eBay, but other than that it's been OK.
I did get a carded Uhura that had that had been sitting in a basement or something. When I opened her up she stank! Growing on her back was some green mold or something. I got rid of the mold and put her in a box with some air freshener and she was good to go.
On the subject of gross stuff on your purchases I find pet hair and dander on a lot of the things I buy on eBay. I'm not a big fan of that either.

A LOT of ebayers are smokers, especially toy or comic dealers.

Cough! Hack! Cough!
I remember the day I got my Human Torch. I'd wanted one since I was a kid. I'd waited and watched until I found a good deal on a nice looking figure. He was nice and bright. Barely a flaw. He came in a nice little windowed doll box (not a mego or repro) I removed the clear plastic lid... and smoke litterally poured out setting off all the smoke alarms in my house. I nearly died from the smell of smoke... OK maybe I exagerate a little bit, but it was stinky. I washed him off and he was OK, but the only way he could have smelled worse was if he'd been stuffed with tobacco and set on fire.
