Hi, my name is Andrew and I am 13 years old. My Mego "journey" began about 4 years ago when i was looking on for vintage Marvel toys online, Ive always been into the older toys, movies ect.(such as Godzilla and the 1933 King Kong). I was thrilled to find these toys and something about the old look of Mego really drew me towards them. It was to even more delight that I came across Mego Museum, and Custo-Mego. Through Mego toys I discovered and became a huge fan of Planet Of The Apes and old Western and classic Universal Horror movies.
For years I've struggled to make a custom. It seems something always went wrong! I would make a face sculpt and then put it into water right out of the oven, the head(which I had labored on for HOURS) came out of the ice cold water cracked and distorted. Or I would put too much primer on and the facial features would be drown in a dripping mess of gray liguid. A similar fail happened when I attempted to paint the head. More problems happened with sewing. I bought a hand-sewing kit with money I had saved up from mowing lawns, although my sister made fun of me, I labored for hours carefully stitching, only to find I had made those pants (made from a shirt I willingly sacrificed) way too small, or that shirt too big, and on, and on, and on. After a year I simply gave up and pursued my growing interest in filmmaking. Then, about 5 months ago I rediscovered my Custom Mego passion, and it all came back to me, the frustration, the long tiring hours, but I happily did it anyway. Now, enough of my rambling, and on to the figure!:smiley1:

The only way I'm happy with a custom is if its all my own, sculpt, sewing everything, even if its a horrible mess, I just like to know that all of it is my craftwork. The only thing that I didnt make is the wrestler arms and feet, and the mego body, which I bought from Dr. Mego.

The pants I sewed, but the 'boots' and all the other clothes are liquid stitch. The head took an unimaginably long time to paint, but Ive had the sculpt Ive had lying around for like a year.

I'm not 100% satisfied yet, but I think I'm going to let him be and move on to other customs.

I'm impressed, really impressed. I would imagine a 13 year would have other interests then sculpting and sewing, but here you are.
Very cool sculpt, my hat's off to you on that one. Great choice of fabric too, I like that blue netting for the sleeves.
Eagerly looking forward to more of your work

That's pretty good. I've never been brave enough to attempt sewing. (for me or an action figure). Nice work.

I've never had the courage to try and make a custom so congrats on even stepping up to the plate. Add to that the pretty cool custom and you should be proud.
