View Full Version : Vintage Toys I saw at Wizard World
http://www.megomuseum.com/dump/ww/ps1.jpg (http://www.megomuseum.com/dump/ww/ps1.jpg)I should almost call this post "stuff that tempted me" as I posted at the Megomuseum Blog (http://www.megomuseum.com/blog/megoblog.html), I attended Wizard World this weekend in Chicago and was blown away by the amount of vintage toys available. I'm tired, so let's just go through my photo's and I'll get back to catalogs tomorrow, I promise. Above is a boxed Remco Climbing Spider-Man, a shorter version of Energized Spider-man, it was sooooo minty. (pic courtesy of Heroes (http://stores.ebay.com/Heroes-West-Coast_W0QQsspagenameZL2QQtZkm))

A full set of 12 backs in very nice condition, I don't know how I'll ever swing it but one day these will be mine.

Actually, I was surprised by the amount of decent "entry level" (meaning cheap) vintage Star Wars pieces available at this show. I'm officially on the wagon when it comes to Lucas, so it was bothersome.

The Monsterizer just plain bothered me, I collect Remco Mini Monsters and this is just like, the neatest toy ever. I don't know why but I held out and bought a carded Mego Planet of the Ape (http://www.megomuseum.com/pota/index.html) instead, he's a very pretty ape though......

Hey, that's quite a bit of vintage stuff. The two times I've been to Wiz-World, only Hucakbone had any real vintage stuff. Most of it was Marvel Legends out the wazoo.

I know how you feel. The antique show I'm going to Saturday had a dealer there the last time I was there in '99 selling a set of 21-Back Star Wars figures for $2100. That's a deal I regret passing on.

I would have liked to have been there and to have seen all of those up close, on shelves, once again. NYC has a lot of cool things to see and places to go, but not much of the cool vintage toys, in stores like this. At least, I've not found them.

I was this close to grabbing that monsterizer when I saw it, but I talked myself out of it.
