    Vinyl Cutter

I was really impressed with jackson5677's Gothem City diorama and want to make one for myself.

The Portland TechShop has a new tool - a vinyl cutter. I just finished taking the training class and its a pretty neat device. I made this Bat-Signal during the class.

The Bat-Signal is just under 12" long. I first cut out a black bat out of very thin vinyl and put it on a yellow spot light. I'm planning to use this in the background of the diorama.

I'm also planning to create some cut vinyl logos for custom figures. Stay tuned!

I used one of those machines back when I did graphics for trucks. Veyr easy to use and now they are so much more advanced.

Wow, that's really cool! Are you planning to add this feature to Laser Mego?

I really am enjoying using the vinyl cutter. Today I made all the detail for the Flash.

I'm very happy with the arm bands and belt, but the chest emblem is still a work in progress. The emblem is made out of three layers: black, white, and yellow. Basically, I need to shrink the white part a little so the black outline shows up better.

I remember making a Flash before and cutting out the details was such a pain. Its great to have an automated tool.

And here is a Daredevil chest emblem I created.

It is about the same size as the Flash emblem above. The vinyl has a real nice glossy finish that I think looks much better than a paper emblem. Its hard to see the finish in the photo because I have some transparent transfer paper on top of the logo.

                    Those are nice!

What do you use as an adhesive agent?

The vinyl comes with an adhesive backing. Its used make signs and stuff. It sticks pretty good to the cloth outfits. The stuff I've made are like stickers that are already cut out.

I wish there was a place like that in New Jersey. What computer drawing program do you use to design the stickers?

I mostly use Inkscape. Its a free, open-source drawing program that is like Corel Draw.
