View Full Version : Star Trek Trivia

...So, I am cleaning out a closet and I find a box of Star Trek TOS trivia cards. I acquired these about 25 years ago when I made a $100 donation to my local PBS TV station. They were meant to be used with a Trivial Pursuit board game, you would just use these cards instead of the trivia cards that came with the game. I worked for a large printing company at the time and whenever I was on the same shift as a couple of other Trekkies, we would challenge each other to some trivia. I was very good at episode titles and one of the other guys was good at quotes. Anyway, here is my idea. I will choose and post trivia questions from these cards, at least one and possibly more per day, but not a new one before the previous is answered correctly. The member who correctly answers 10 trivia question first, wins a special prize care package. No using Google or any other internet source to get the answers (on the honor system, of course). Remember, the member who wins will have to have been the first poster with the correct answer 10 times. So, we might be here a while.
First question. Name the episode with the following dialogue:
Spock: I need your advice.
McCoy: Then I need a drink.

The episode is Obsession.
Spocks asks the question while McCoy is performing an autopsy.

Wow, quick winner on that one. I'll have to pick tougher questions. Next question sometime this evening.

In answer to a question, there are 5 different colored cards each having a different subject. I will rotate through the subjects. They are Trek Trivia, Alien Worlds, Aliens, Quotes and Starfleet. And I am adding one rule. If you happen to have this set of cards, you may not use them to get the answer. You can use any other non-internet source.
This one is a bit tougher. I had forgotten this.
Who was the only human against whom Spock's Vulcan Nerve Pinch was ineffective?

I'm no expert but I'd say that androïd guy Norman I think his name was...in the episode where Harry Mudd appears for the second time...it's my guess!

Love the trivia. And impressed by those who actually know the answers!
Did we ever really learn what Gary Seven's deal was? He seemed like a mystery... so the "human" part seems a bit up for debate, right? It's been a years since I've seen the episode, though... so my memory is a bit fuzzy.

No, you don't have to give it time. Answer as soon as you know. First to have the correct answers before anyone else and hit 10, gets the package. So answer quick if you know it. I just need to give more time if no one gets the answer.
Also, I don't mind if anyone looks answers up anywhere but the internet or the same set of cards. Anything else is fair game!
Having said all of that, you are on the scoreboard with the correct answer. One more for tonight and then we'll start again tomorrow
What is Kirk's sister-in-law's name?

Let's change it up a little to make it a little more fair. I will post questions at 9AM, 1PM and 9PM every day. That way everyone knows when the questions will be posted. The times are Eastern time and only if the previous question has been answered. If a question doesn't get answered in time, I will post another question the first time slot after it is answered. Let's make it M-F for those times. I can't promise what time I can post on the weekend, but I will only post 1 question per day on Sat and Sun. There, get all that? Good, cause I didn't...
No more questions today though, as we already had 3 today.

You know, I believe you are correct. I do remember him trying to sell them to the bartender, I don't remember if he tried to sell them to Kirk as well or not. The trivia card has Kirk on it though. We might have caught an error. I am calling my local PBS station and asking for my $100 back - along with 25 years of interest - since the cards are defective!
mego73
Oct 2, '09, 3:17 PM
The trivia card is kind of wrong. In an off handed way(to deflect criticism for the problem of Tribbles growing large), Cyrano tried to interest Kirk in some Spiken flame gems in the animated Star Trek Tribbles episode but not in the live action one the card was supposed to reference.

Gilligans Angels--The short lived spin off from Gilligans Island about three hot police women who go to work for Gilligan fighting crime. It was later retooled and sold as Charlies Angels (Who the hells Charlie? I woulda preferred Gilligan!)
2. What episode do we see Kirk eating on the bridge?
All of them. The man was a voracious pig when it came to food, and he always had a bag of Doritos hidden in the hollow space in the left arm of the command chair. Little known fact--This was the real reason Rand left the ship. she simply grew tired of having to clean all the crumbs out of Kirks chair...and bed...and the Jeffries Tube...and the....well...you get the idea.

2. Kirk was munching on what looks like pieces of celery in The Man Trap
3. I should've been more specific on number 3. I meant to say that what episode ends with a shot of the the Enterprise approaching a planet. In the final scene of Is There In Truth No Beauty they did go to a planet but the only episode where the last shot is the Enterprise is approaching a planet is Spectre Of The Gun.
