Making Non-Resin Repro Heads - Question from New Guy

    Hi folks,

I apologize if this has been discussed before. I did a search for "custom heads" and didn't really hit on anything.

Here's my question...how can I make reproduction AJ heads without using the resin material? I would like my repro heads to be...ah, you know, rubbery and pliable like the original head.

Please tell me what you think of this plan:

    1. Make a plaster of paris mold of an AJ head
    2. Pour or press some kind of silicone-type stuff into the mold (I really don't know what to use.

    3. pull the mold off, wash, paint, put on T1 or T2 body!!!!

I just want a bunch of AJ heads! I'd really like to expand them a tad for use on 1/6 scale bodies since there are so many more of those!

Sorry if this has been asked 100 times before. Any info is welcome, thanks!

I don't think you'll be able to paint on silicone or silicone-type material. It takes to dyes, but not paint.

      Hmmmm....

I've used a Smooth-On material.... can't remember the name.... that was squishy. I made a few soft heads, and squishy Space Glider helmets with it. Worked really good, and worked in my regualr silicone molds. It took dye while mixing, and Testors flat enamels after hardening.

Can't one pick up AJ stuff from next to nothing anyways , but for a couple of peices ? ... Dave MC was selling complete figures for 10 bucks a pop in the market place last week.
