Having finished writing blogs about this year's San Diego Comic-Con, I figure it was time to get back to toys!

Tonight I posted a "Separated At Birth?" blog, discussing Mego's Invisible Girl head sculpt.

wow, it's scary how much they resemble eachother. Is there any reason why Mego would've made a sculpt of her? Did she play a superhero on tv or in the movies?

Never thought of D'Angelo, although I do see the resemblance. I always thought she looked like Family Ties' Merideth Baxter Birney.

Oh and Supergirl IS Heather Locklear.

I think the Invisible Girl head may have been a rejected Farrah sculpt.

I think it's just that particular pic, But like someone else posted, I thought she looked like the Mom from Family Ties also

I just want to clarify something, in case I was misunderstood: I never meant to imply Beverly D'Angelo could have been the likeness model. As far as I know, she wasn't even working when that head was sculpted. The resemblance is simply something I noticed a few years ago, and I decided to have some fun.

I think the Invisible Girl head may have been a rejected Farrah sculpt.

Now that is very interesting and somewhat plausible. The only problem with the theory is the timing; Farrah's massive celebrity stemmed mostly from Charlie's Angels and Logan's Run, both of which Mego pursued. However, both 'vehicles' occurred a couple of years after Mego commissioned the head.

Of course, there was also that infamous (brilliant) Red Bathing Suit poster, but I'm guessing that was produced after Charlie's Angels aired. Anyone know the release date on the poster, or if she did anything "big" prior to 1974 that I'm forgetting?

Nope BEFORE ,
Farrah Fawcett, was a fresh faced woman from Corpus Christi, Texas. In the early 1960s, she was voted the "Beautiful Woman" by her high school colleagues. In the late 1960s, she had her first break in guest-starring roles in shows such as "I Dream of Jeannie" (1965), "The Flying Nun" (1967) and "The Partridge Family" (1970). Then, in 1968, she dated actor Lee Majors, and the couple were married on July 28, 1973. Shortly after, Majors starred in his series "The Six Million Dollar Man" (1974) and Farrah guest-starred in four episodes. As her career took off, she posed in her red bathing suit for a poster, and it sold a staggering 8,000,000 plus copies.

After the poster was released, producers Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg starred her in the Crime/Drama Megahit show "Charlie's Angels" (1976).

Awesome. Ant's theory may hold water. Certainly the Farrah resemblance is evident, and the head appears to be modeled after somebody specific, what with that crooked mouth and buck teeth.

I always thought Invisible Girl's head was a trashed project to make a Cathy Lee Crosby as Wonder Woman figure.

CLC's Wonder Woman was '74.... and I think the sculpt resembles her a bit.

According to Farrah's Wikipedia entry, the poster was released in 1976 around the same time that Charlie's Angels first aired. I no longer consider my theory to be plausible.
